Announcing the AMP Feature Bounty Program!

The AMP Bounty programme is a way for independent developers to contribute to AMP and be financially rewarded for their work by taking advantage of AMPs open API and SDK to implement new modules and plugins for other users to use.

We're largely going to be funding this using the funds raised through Patreon, so with that in mind we've added a bounty for the Teamspeak 3 support as an incentive for that to be picked up if someone wants to before we're able to schedule that work. We'll al...

AMP Enterprise T1 licences are now available.

Hey guys, we've made the smaller (and cheaper) T1 licence available. We've put it on at $20 plus relevant taxes (so half the price of T2, half the limit) for 25 instances. The T1 licence is great for just getting started and small scale setups. Enjoy!

AMP Enterprise Edition is now available via Patreon!

AMP Enterprise Edition is now available via Patreon!

We're offering the T2 (50 instances) and T3 (100 instances) licences at $40 and $65 per month (+VAT if applicable). Licences ship once payment is taken.

We'll be making more tiers available soon, and we're also working on letting you order them directly from us via Paypal, but this means we can offer it to you all sooner and get things going.

You'll be able to access the WHMCS billing integra...

Where is AMP Enterprise up to?

AMP Enterprise Edition has been under wraps for some time now, so we wanted to give a quick update as to what state it's currently at and when you can expect to be be able to purchase it.

You'll have no doubt noticed over the last few weeks that we've been working on WHMCS integration. During the course of building the WHMCS side of things a lot of changes that need to be made to AMP to accommodate this were revealed. This is what has been behind the new features such as AMPs new abilit...

New in AMP 2.0.2 - Integrated SCP/SFTP server!

This new embedded SCP/SFTP server replaces the old FTP(S) server. This system is much easier to work with, requiring only a single port to operate (rather than **17** for the old system by default!). It also automatically generates a highly secure keypair for you on first startup, so it's secure by default rather than requiring that you have a certificate to hand.

It works great with WinSCP and Filezilla, as well as the command line 'scp' utility. You login as previous with your AMP log...

This isn't final and may have some tweaks subject to feedback, but you can check it out and see what discounts are available for annual payments or even lifetime buy-out licences where applicable. Check it out at https://manage.cubecoders.com/AMPEnterprise - and check out the #enterprise-edition channel on Discord with any feedb...

Upcoming changes to the user system

One of the issues that has come up as people have been using AMP more and at larger scales is that of the same username existing in multiple places, or rather - the inability to do this.

Right now if you create a user inside a single instance, that username cannot be used anywhere else. So you couldn't then use it in a completely unrelated instance - which is inconvenient especially for Enterprise deployments.

So the change that's going to happen is that for ADS setups with multip...

Third AMP tutorial - Windows installation!

For our third tutorial we've covered installing AMP on Windows. At the same length as the Linux guide there's a few more steps but it ultimately takes roughly the same amount of time to install. Spot where we saved time be re-using parts of the script and voice recordings!

AMP Video Tutorials - Installing AMP on Linux

We've just prepared our first video tutorial to help new users get started with AMP! This one covers installing AMP on Linux and getting through the initial setup. It's fairly in depth and includes every step so users who want a complete guide needn't feel like they have to guess at anything.

What is the AMP Console Assistant (AMPCA), and why does it exist?

The AMP Console Assistant is possibly the weirdest and least understood component of AMP. It sits there hidden under the hood doing its own thing, mostly invisible and unnoticed. But surely it has some purpose. What does it do, and why does AMP need it?

This is first of a series where I talk about some of AMP's inner workings for the curious amongst you. While broadly AMP has a fairly simple design, there are some fairly whacky components in it to help it deal with the sheer variety of ...

Well that was unexpected...

Thanks to the phenomenal backing of our first Kratos-tier backer, we've blown through not just one but *two* of our goals! So now both MySQL/MariaDB and VoIP/TS support have been added to the development queue!

We're now getting close to the point where having an additional staff member starts to make more sense, so once the current global situation is showing signs of being dealt with we're going to start looking at how we can add more development capacity to start getting through some...

New Goal - MariaDB/MySQL Support!

For the second time now we're changing our $900 goal because we managed to deliver the feature regardless. So this time we took a look at some of the most requested features that would be useful to users but that would also require a lot of development time to get right.

So our new goal for this level is MariaDB/MySQL support! The goal of this feature is to make it easy to automatically provision databases for users when they're playing games that either require them or can allow for ad...

Testing out AMP Enterprise Features

I know a lot of you recently started backing in anticipation of the AMP Enterprise Release which is coming soon and want to start testing features out early.

In anticipation I've written up some documentation on how you actually activate ADS (which can't normally be done) to enable the features.

I've also added a new Issue Template on Github to 2020-03-31 18:55:42 +0000 UTC View Post

Temporary feature unlock for all Patreon backers!

We've temporarily unlocked ALL AMP features for the Patreon Edition licence holders, so you can test out the new Enterprise features. This doesn't allow commercial usage, but allows you to test all the features during the release candidate phase. Have fun!

Preparing for Enterprise

AMP Enterprise Release Candidate 1.9.8.0 is now undergoing testing. In the recently prepared builds we've got the new templating features in place which allow you to dictate the permissions of large numbers of users across large numbers of instances all at once.

We've still got a lot of testing and work to do, and more than likely some bug fixes - but the core required features are now (nominally) implemented.

Aarch64/ARM64 and Raspberry Pi is here!

As of today, GetAMP.sh will 'just work' on Ubuntu 19.10 or newer for aarch64!

A few caveats for now:

  • It doesn't know which modules will and won't actually run, so it'll let you try and create instances that will never run on aarch64 systems such as srcds instances
  • It's only had fairly minimal testing
  • It takes a long time for instances to stop, which makes the setup process a little slow in places.
  • Only Ubuntu 19.10+ is supported. 18.04 may work but...

Aarch64/ARM64 and Raspberry Pi progress!

We've got the latest build of AMP (1.9.6.0) working on ARM, this time with the full datastore backend functioning correctly (which was previously a blocker for getting ADS to run)

On top of that we've got our build system working more reliably for aarch64 builds so that we can build and ship these updates same as anything else. This will allow these versions to stay in lockstep with the main x86_64 builds to maintain compatibility between each other.

What's left to do is some logi...

Instance Templating - Make once, deploy many.

One of the last major hurdles to getting AMP Enterprise Edition released has been implementing a sane way for hosts to define a template that new instances are based upon. Containing information about default configuration and settings, as well as whether or not that instance should have a new user created for it and if so - what permissions that user should have.

Templating will be available for users of AMP Enterprise, Network Edition, Patreon Supporter Edition, Black and Platinum edi...

Integrated FTP Support - Finally!

We've been working for some time on how to embed proper FTP support within AMP. This allows you to login with your normal AMP credentials.

For now 2FA isn't supported. So you'll have to disable this to login via FTP. But we hope to have something nicer in place to make this saner soon.

AMP on Raspberry Pi 4B! (aarch64)

It seemed unfair to dangle the Raspberry Pi goal so close to all of you, a mere few tens of dollars away, but not deliver it. This morning our new Raspberry Pi 4B (4GB RAM) arrived. This afternoon, AMP was running on it!

This is a super early version, held together with string and duct tape. It's going to be a bit before this is available for public use.

We're running this on the new Ubuntu 19.10 release that came out a few days ago. Unlike Raspbian this is a proper 64-bit distrib...

Revisiting 'Friends and Family' licencing.

Last month we discussed the issue of AMP licencing to host servers for friends and family. And since then we've continued to look at the issue.

Rather than making the licencing situation even more confusing by rolling out yet another AMP edition, we've instead decided that it's best to roll it into one of the existing licences.

So what we're looking at doing is the following: View Post
