Alastair I have read 5 books in December of 2025. 1st Angel Down by Daniel Kraus. 2nd. The Director byDaniel Kelly Mann. 3rd. Sonia Sunny by Kiren Desai. 4. The Sisters by Jonas Hassem Khemiri and the 5th book was Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt. We have completely different reading list but as I tell everyone "I don't care what you read just as long as you live reading". So at least we do have that in common. Best wishes for 2026.

Dungeon Crawler Carl series is my favorite set of books I've read this year. It's gone right into my top favorites like Red Rising, Dresden Files, and Johannes Cabal the Necromancer. Great story, superb writing, very engaging characters.

David Diachenko

Great video Alastair! Even though it's a massive book, I'm excited to read Bastion after hearing the 3rd one was your favorite of the year. Sounds like it has some awesome and unique world building.

Matt

Looking forward to new books and new authors. In 2025 finishing all three of the empire of the vampire books which I loved. ❤️

Brad Harper

I think I’ll get to it eventually. Hoping you all like Bastion as well

Paracutirimicuaro

And I think Simon Jimenez is Filipino-American so maybe those references are Filipino?

Chris Ho

Did you see the movie adaptation of Midnight in the Garden of good and evil?

I’d love to see in future if you would add Neal Stephenson’s Anathem. It’s a big epic that I would love to re-read with you all. And of course because he just released the 18th book - Dresden Files is really good series (albeit a long one).

Chris Ho

I’m excited for some of the series you added this year. Bastion is probably the one I’m most excited. I’m curious if you’ve tried the Malazan series. I’ve tried to read Gardens of the Moon three times, but never finished. I’ve always heard it’s one of the best fantasy series, but very complex. I’ll read it eventually…
