August Pinup #2 - Gothic Pinup
Added 2023-08-29 07:49:34 +0000 UTCThe second pinup is done! In order to match the softer shading of the first pinup, I leaned into a more blended shading on this one, too. And also because my cel shaded style just wasn't cutting it, in terms of mood and atmosphere, despite my efforts... I'll have to experiment more with cel shading to see if I can find a way to get moodier lighting. But for now, this will do. Hope you all don't mind that I mix up the shading style now and then! I have mentioned it before, but a goal of mine is to figure out a good style hybrid between cel shading and blended shading styles.
High Resolution Versions
The current month's patrons will be charged on the 1st of the following month, and receive the high resolution files around the 5th, after those charges process. So if you want these rewards, remain pledged until the 1st of the next month, so the system can charge you.

2023-09-03 21:57:32 +0000 UTCThanks! I am glad you took the time to look so deeply into it. The panels at the bottom of the window were based on an image I found on google for gothic architecture. I look up a lot of reference when I do these, because reality has a lot of interesting resources. Once I have that, it's not hard to just copy what I see. I only had to do it for one panel, then copy paste it over and over to fill the space. My major problem with the result is it looks a little too real, and I would rather have had it be a bit more stylized. Same goes for the stool cushion. Side note: I originally wanted to tatter the drapes and add some old adventurer bones scattered on the floor, to better suggest the feeling of entering a dangerous creature's lair... But in the end, I decided not to go the full horror route, and keep it clean and sexy.

With that out of the way, I think the shading is really hitting it out of the park, and I especially love how, if you cropped this at the waist this could be taken with so many meanings and scenarios, this really nailed that alluring and possibly dangerous character framed by moonlight, and as I often mention, the background here is wonderful in it's simplicity, I really want to know how you did that trim for the bottom of the window though

It really makes those seem like real things. The background too, I can practically see Simon Belmont about to crash through the window.
