Rock Fill
Added 2023-08-21 19:57:44 +0000 UTCLet's have some fun and play a rock fill! It can also be used as a groove, and I've heard many drummers say it's similar to the Foo Fighters' song "My Hero". Do you recognize it? Let's get started!

Total practice time: 10 minutes
1. (1 minutes) - Watch the whole video first and see how much power you have to play the fill with - it's a rock lesson, so playing a bit louder than normal is totally okay! Pay attention to how I move my hands forward after each hit, so that I'm ready for the next shot. As we're using bass drums, you can move to the next shot during the kick. Remember to keep every shot in the middle too.
2. (5 minutes) - Play it yourself now! Remember the tips I just gave you. At the 32nd strokes at the end, try using your double bass drum technique that we learned in the Bass drum technique lesson, which you can find in the Extras folder. Start slowly, stay relaxed and keep an eye on your timing.
3. (4 minutes) - Now you can speed it up! Every 4 bars, take a break and start a little faster. Practicing with a metronome is a great way to take your playing to the next level - it'll make you play 10 times tighter.
As an extra, you can play the fill along with another groove that you already know how to play, or you can alternate with toms for example.
