Tutorial 114 - Major and Minor Keys in Color

The major key is the dominant, majority color in an image. It sets the general tone or mood and might be able to trigger a subtle emotional response from the viewer.
The minor key is the color that is being used to create color contrast in your scheme. It may be a small accent than can add an element of vibrancy to an otherwise dull arrangement or it may be a color that almost competes spatially with the major key.
We should strive for a harmonic balance of major and minor keys in order to express the feelings we want to convey in our image.
