Possible Piggybanking Change
Added 2017-05-25 09:26:25 +0000 UTCWith the ongoing min vote discussion I suppose now's the time to finally bring up a change I have wanted to make to the piggybank tier for quite some time.
Current situation:
> $15 tier is practically a psuedo-voter tier due to piggybank, which rather devalues the actual voter tier.
> Whenever someone <$15 uses credit, it has always been to submit/vote with the need to somehow get all the $15 rewards to them being an extra complication brought on more by the rules of piggybanking than actually being the aimed-for reward.
How I want to change the piggybank tier:
> Credits no longer correspond to $$ amounts.
> Piggybank Tier gets 1 credit a month.
> 2x credits can be used to be able to submit an idea (as submission tier).
> 2x credits can be used to participate in the monthly extra content vote (As the voter tier, does not include other benefits of that tier).
> 4x credits can be spent to both submit and vote in the same month.
The results of this change would be as follows:
> The only way to vote every single month (instead every other month) would be to be voter tier or higher.
> The only way to submit a grim mini/sketch concept every month would be to be submission tier or higher.
> The only way to see the $15 stuff would be to be viewer tier or higher.
> Piggybank tier ($5) users would be able to vote once every other month instead of once every 3 months if they don't care about submitting.
> All preexisting credit would be divided by 5 to match the new exchange rates.

That's true, although anyone aiming for that would still be several years away so I hope it wouldn't be crushing any dreams.

I knew that before starting the patreon - my study of other niche hentai patreons made it pretty clear which reward was worth $20. Furthermore, the ability to submit retains its value even at a lower tier because so few people really do it.

2017-05-25 20:37:23 +0000 UTCI had a much longer response but then I lost my tab. ;.; Ugh, hour and a half down the drain. Anyway, the vast majority of credit use as been $15 voting. IIRC the number of times credit has been used for anything else is in the single digits, and the majority of those times were submission tier patrons wanting to vote. "Immensely Devalues" - As noted above, in practice credit has almost only been used to vote. Any credit stockpiles would be worth more vote-enabled months than before, not less. I don't see how this would devalue the stockpiles (in practice)?

2017-05-25 12:51:19 +0000 UTCYou may of course do that, but I suspect we will see a noticeable decline in votes as well as submissions (not that there is much variety to begin with, so it will be even worse! Prepare for tentacle rape #29363617…). There's also the question as to whether retroactively applying the change to existing piggybank dollars is fair, because it immensely devalues them. I would much rather see other limitations enacted, like voting tier supporters having two votes, and submission tier supporters being able to submit more than one submission each month. On top of that, I personally believe that it would be much more advantageous to the voting system, if the submission tier and voting tier were to be reworked, to make the voting tier come first (in terms of cost), in order to attract more voters - not even half of the people able to do so submit ideas, but a hell of a lot more than that do indeed vote.
