Kazuma is hitting Aqua kevels of sripid believing Gods would reclaim the hammer, and not that thief girl could have stolen it. I stopped at the spoiler warning.

2024-04-21 23:10:24 +0000 UTCa little funfact about the hammer, the hammer belongs to a japenese deity by the name of daikoku, hence why both kazuma and aqua, who was stated to be the goddess in charge of japan, recognized it. daikoku is the god of wealth, prosperity and the kitchen, the patron of farmers and leader of the shichi fukujin, the seven gods of fortune. it is said that the hammer can grant wishes, hence why it produces money for the group. i'm pretty sure both kazuma and aqua didn't look for it, because they realized it's a divine object and just figured the gods reclaimed it and there's nothing they can do. as for why chris, aka thief girl, stole the hammer.... well. okay, i don't think it's a spoiler, given this is purely speculation, based on what the show has been heavily hinting at already several times so far, but i'm not sure you picked up on it yet, so i'll give you a potential spoiler warning, just in case you're not interested in fan theories, so consider yourself warned: while it's never stated directly, it's heavily implied that chris is actually the goddess eris in disguise. if you pay attention while watching, there are more than a few clues pointing that way. for starters, they have the same hair and eye colour, as well as body type (eris is a bit bustier, but aqua already stated that eris uses pads to increase her breast size) and they even have the same voice actor. their names are very similar (E-Ris and Ch-Ris) and darkness mentioned that she first met chris after praying to eris for a friend, so eris might have taken it upon herself to fill that role. also eris acts somewhat odd when first meeting kazuma after his death at the hands of the snow shogun, as if they already know each other. not to mention that at some point eris literally stated that she sometimes sneaks of and visits axel in person. putting everything together, it's almost certain that chris is indeed eris in disguise and hence was sent/took it upon herself to bring back the divine artefact to the realm of the gods.
