this is a quaint stupid but fun movie. definitely not the greatest movie ever made, but i enjoyed it for what it is. also, as usual, here are some fun facts: -the number on piccolo's red ribbon army is 94, the same chapter number in which son-goku invaded the red ribbon back in og dragonball -i guess gohan really needs his glasses. he has a record of not being able to see/catch small thing. back in z he failed to catch the potaro goku threw to him and now he failed to catch his senzu -the saiyan growth spurt thing is definitely a bit of a retcon, seeing as both goku and gohan seemed to grow at least somewhat over the years, but not completely unfeasible. after all, we know saiyan's don't physically age after reaching adult hood until they hit old age. this might be an extension of that biological quirk. -the symbol on orange piccolo's back represents and ajisa tree, one of the tree's native to namek, and is sort of national symbol for namekians. he may have been born and raised on earth - apart from the part of him that is nail-, but he's still a proud namekian warrior in his heart. -cell max is loosely based on shin godzilla. epsecially one of the attacks he uses is ripped straight from that movie. i also agree with having him be just a mindless beast. while there were some upset we didn't get perfect cell, he had his moment in the series and having such a captivating villain as him in the movie would only distracted from the rest of the movie. -lastly, while the name of piccolo's new form "orange piccolo" was given, the new form of gohan officially goes by "beast gohan"

2023-04-22 14:26:50 +0000 UTCThat joke about Piccolo being Gohan's "real dad" is so overused, and not even close to being true. I mean seriously, the first year they knew each other Piccolo had kidnapped Gohan and didn't really care much for him until near the end of the forced training. Before that Goku had raised Gohan for 4-5 years with Chichi, then he died fighting to save Gohan from Raditz. He spent a year training to defeat Nappa and Vegeta, came back, got hospitalized, recovered with a Senzu bean and then went to Namek to save Gohan the rest of the team there, nearly died when Freeza blew up the planet, drifted in space, learned a few techniques, came back to Earth to see Freeza had been dealt with, and then spent another few years training and spending time with Gohan, another year alone with him in the time chamber. Goku and Piccolo are both big parts of Gohan's life, but Piccolo is much more like an uncle than a father, and I've seen people try to diminish Goku's time with Gohan in order to raise up Piccolo's time.
