It definitely kept it fresh - after a while a series usually fizzes out because eventually it becomes too familiar. This is not to say you dislike the characters but rather it lacks new flavor.

i remember when you hypothesized the possibility of this happening back in part three. kudos for catching that. i was very tempted to comment something back than, but decided not to.
with him being dionathan's son, this makes this one... josephs's uncle, jotaro's great-granduncle and yosuke's granduncle. how bizzare.
anyways, we're finally introduced to our fith jojo, giorno giovanni and his dream of becoming a gang-star. i find it interesting that araki decided to use a homophone this time around instead of the name actually containing the letters jojo somewhere in his name. then again, he did something similar with yosuke i suppose.
oh and this is the part where araki totally goes of the rail and fully comes into his own style. from here on out fashion stops making sense completely and everyone's gonna wear only the most bizarre, flashy, flamboyant outfits you can imagine. i hope you like the change, it's here to stay.
