Tiny Sketchbook Dump + Sketchbook Mentality

Some old and some new scans from my tiny (4x5.5 in) topdrawer sketchbook! I was having a conversation with someone I'm close to (who is also working in the creative field for his job) about how hard it has become to work up the energy to sketchbook. We both went to art college together and previously were sketchbooking regularly, both for class and for our own creative pleasure. His sketchbook was one of the ones that motivated me to keep working in my own. But now that we're both working professionals, it's become difficult to find the time to expend the energy outside of our jobs. I was relieved to hear him say it, seeing as he was my sketchbook inspiration for years. And he was relieved to hear me say I felt the same as well. I try not to beat myself up over it, because honestly, it just isn't realistic to keep a regular sketchbook right now.

I would like to take a sketchbook trip in the future though. Just a trip exclusively for working in my sketchbook, filling the whole thing without worrying about drawing for work. Traditional media still makes me feel so at home, even if my work is mainly digital for my job. I'd like to take a trip to the northeast US, somewhere in New England, maybe Maine? Maybe northern Michigan in the Upper Peninsula?

(Also. I apologize for the slightly blurry/warped portions of every page. This would go ahead and be due to the fact that I have spilled water on this sketchbook now multiple times! And every page is slightly wavy! So scanning it is just a little bit impossible! Very cool.)

If you've read this far I might as well mention that I'm thinking of revamping this patreon space a little. I'm also opening a bigcartel shop (possibly for just a few months to sell leftover stock). So some changes are coming...and I have an idea for something that could be fun. I don't know. I'm still marinating on it.

mmmm......marinating.

I may not work in the same profession At All but my work does make it hard for me to find time to sketch as well (thankfully my job tends to start in the kate morning so I spend my early morning drawing my comic) ! I normally time myself for my pages, that tends to help me personally. Love your Pikmin doodles, they look adorable 😍
