Hello friends!
I'm currently working actively on LS and IQ. Some things are turned out more slowly than I expected. But the progress with our games on the whole is rather good.
And now we would like to ask your opinion about the mechanics of interactive scenes for LS! (night scene in the bedroom Belle, books selection in the library and other like) Now mechanics are working this way: there are different chances of success of some Gaston's actions to Belle and it depends directly on Gaston's and Belle's parameters.
For example: having Hunting lvl less then 100 you can't to lift up Belle's hem at all. Having Hunting 150 chance of success is 50%. If Hunting is more than 200 - the attempt will be successful for 90%. In turn, if Belle has high corruption, she will not be very angry. But if low - then she'll slap Gaston and leave.
This system has obvious disadvantages - it's not very clear for players, not demonstrative, and most importantly, unduly dependent on the RNG and makes you constantly to use of s/l, to achieve desired results. It would be possible to disable saves during the time of interactive scenes... But it would be the same as that put out the fire with gasoline haha :D So we decided that this system is in need of serious revision.
Now we have two variants of update mechanics for interactive scenes.
1. The first variant - more easy. The success of any action depends directly on the Gaston's and Belle's parameters. For example, having less than 100 Hunting lifting up of the hem just will not work. If Hunting is more than 100 - the chance to succeed 100% at once. No intermediate variants. In addition, each interactive button will have tooltip, where you'll see if you can do what you want or not. And if not - which parameter is not enough for this action. Even if the action is not successful, you'll be able to activate it all the same - to see Belle's reaction (or another chars), and may receive some bonuses for unsuccessful action :D.
2. The second option - a bit more difficult. Besides direct connection with the characters parameters there is added such mechanics as 'Action Points' (or AP). For each interactive scene is given a definite number of APs. And any action (slapping Belle, reading the book, lifting up the hem, etc.) spends a certain number of APs. When AP ends - interactive scene finishes too. And the more skills level have Gaston (Knowledge and Hunting), the less amount of AP is spent on appropriate actions. For example, having Hunting less than 100, Gaston spends 10 AP for lifting up Belle's hem. But at Hunting 200 - he spends only 5 APs. Thus, in order to achieve something interesting features in interactive scenes you will need to increase Gaston's skills! :))
Now we analize both these options. Vote, please, for the option that you like more. Interactive scene is an important basic mechanics of LS, so we are very interested in your opinion on this issue. Thank you, guys! ^_^
