It's about time to kick some wolves ass!

Getting back to the question about different game modules. After the poll we've decided that this time we'll have the module with ONLY the combat system (or rather its draft version). We were planning to have several events in the forest, including a pretty funny one... and hm... one for adults, so to say, together with this module. But because most of you want to see the interesting stuff in the complete version of the demo, we decided to go with that. (But pay attention: some little storyline exists in this module anyway! So you should check carefully locations 2 and 3 ;))

A little bit about the combat system in LS. First we wanted to not have it at all. But Gaston is a hunter. So it's only logical that he encounters other creatures besides harmless rabbits and beautiful fairies. In addition, this should make the gameplay more interesting, but we aren't going to make the combat the essential part of LS, as we think that it shouldn't be emphasized as much as it is in Iris Quest. So we decided that the mechanics in LS should be more quick and simple (no BDSM bears, beasts or wolves that you need to fight for ten minutes ;)).

This way you can experience and check out the draft version of the combat system of the Library Story. It will be mainly used during Gaston's hunting (and it's not only one of the ways to level up Gaston's skills). But we will also have some main quest related combats. Some of which you'll be able to experience very soon in the demo-version. We are counting on you and your feedback as it is very important to us, and we may decide to change some stuff in the combat system in the near future based on your reviews.

Thanks for your support, guys! Looking forward to your feedback, requests and wishes!

Thank you friend for the detailed and useful review! And yes, good thoughts about the sword and tentacle tree. It will be necessary to make changes.

At long last I have finished it. I’ve bought all the weapons, chopped down the tree, chased away the bandits, and even claimed a white bear’s pelt. So at long last comes my review of the combat system, let’s do this. Firstly, I’ve already read some of the complaints and your answers to them. So I know armor and better weapons are a thing that will come in the future, this is good. However I don’t agree that the combat was too difficult. It was fun and challenging, which more games these days could do with a dose of. I say ignore those CoD fools, those Madden *insert any year* suckers, and those pitiful candy crush slaves. This level of difficulty was fine as is. Heck, the option to upgrade your gear should make things plenty easy for those who need it. Now onto my first point, the tentacle tree. This thing confused the heck out of me until I put two and two together and figured out you needed the axe, even though the sword is clearly stronger. Maybe drop a hint, like if Gaston runs away he says something like “If only I had a way of chopping that thing down…” Speaking of the sword, it’s ability is called stab yet the animation is more of a slash. Plus the axe has a powerful ability like “devastate”, but this is confusing as the sword is indeed the stronger of the two. Perhaps change the name of the sword’s ability to “slash” or “lacerate” or even “rend”. I want to say I loved the fact the weapon you equip to Gaston shows it equipped to him in the inventory, that’s pretty cool. I also liked the descriptions to everything, very cool. And with that, I have said my piece. Thank you for your hard work on Library Story, and I look forward to the big release.

I was even afraid to imagine that there in RenPy code
