[Hope In Ruination] Chapter 1 - The Nuke-nin
Added 2024-09-19 05:47:01 +0000 UTCAN: Those who are on my Discord server know that I’ve been talking with other fans of League of Legends quite a bit lately about starting a Naruto/League of Legends crossover fic. Well, it’s finally here. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Plot: In order to drive his jinchuuriki insane, Kyuubi gives him his Negative Emotions Sensing from a frail age. On the night Mizuki tries to trick Naruto into stealing the Scroll of Seals, Naruto does it, but he doesn't stay around long enough to hear Iruka's speech. He goes rogue. Seven years later, driven into a corner, Naruto is forced to make a drastic choice.
Pairing: Naruto/Ahri
I’ve been doing quite a bit of research about lore and also consulted with other people who are LoL geeks in order to familiarise myself with League of Legends, but I’m not an expert. If you think something doesn’t fit the canon, feel free to let me know. Do keep in mind, however, that this is, in the end, fanfiction. Not everything has to follow the canon to the letter.
⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂
Chapter 1 - The Nuke-nin
A lone traveller walked down a dirt and gravel road. On each side of the road, rice paddies spread as far as his eye could see. Although it was raining, dozens of workers were outside wadding through the muddy fields barefoot, planting rice.
As some of the workers gawked at the passerby curiously, the traveller pulled the brim of his conic bamboo hat lower to prevent them from getting a good look at his face. It was always like that whenever he passed through a remote village that rarely got visitors.
A few minutes of walking later, the village came into view. It was a tiny rural settlement consisting of less than fifty households.
While the able-bodied adults were out, working in the fields, the elderly were in the village, watching over the children playing in the streets, not caring about the rain.
“Hey, old man, is there a shop in this village?”
“Who are you?” the old man asked back, narrowing his eyes in suspicion at him.
A conical bamboo hat, a large backpack, a mask that hid the lower half of his face, and a grey cloak that obscured most of his body. The elder found him very suspicious.
“I’m just passing through. Don’t worry, I’m not here to cause trouble. I’ll just restock my supplies and then be on my way,” said the traveller.
The Elemental Nations were a dangerous place, with rogue ninjas and other outlaws running amok everywhere. Stories of criminals killing and pillaging entire villages were not that rare at all, so the elder could not help being cautious.
Alas, the old man also knew that he could not afford to provoke the unwelcome visitor for no reason. Their little village was in a remote part of the Land of Hot Water, a few days of travel away from the capital city where most of Daimyo’s military forces were located. If anything were to happen to them, the Daimyo might not even get wind of it for months, not until the tax collectors came to take what they were owed, in autumn.
⁂
The traveller followed the old man’s directions quietly, not making a scene. At the sight of him, the children all scattered into the courtyards of their homes, but he did not take it to heart. It was normal for people to be wary of suspicious outsiders like him; it would be stranger if they weren’t.
At last, he arrived at the shop. It was a small and dingy building with two wooden tables outside and a few chairs. Before going inside, however, he stopped when his eyes fell on the piece of paper glued to the wall, right next to the door.
It was a detailed drawing of a young man, seemingly in his late teens. Seeing as it was a black-and-white drawing, his hair and eye colour could not be portrayed faithfully, but the three pairs of whisker-like birthmarks on his cheeks left no doubts about his identity.
Furthermore, below the drawing, several words were written:
Name: Uzumaki Naruto
Appearance: blue eyes, blonde hair
Bounty:
- Dead: 200,000,000 Ryo
- Alive: 500,000,000 Ryo
A sharp intake of breath was heard from the traveller.
‘Good grief. If even a village as remote as this has up-to-date Wanted posters for my head, they must be getting desperate.’
He took a second look at the two prices.
‘No doubt that it’s Konoha who wants me dead. As for the alive bounty, that’s definitely the Akatsuki.’
The traveller was none other than Uzumaki Naruto. He was a nuke-nin, and he had been one for nearly 7 years already.
Ever since he had defected from Konoha, Naruto had been living in hiding. His golden hair and his whiskers-like birthmarks made him so easily recognizable that he was forced to start wearing various items to disguise himself, especially in towns and villages frequented by shinobi where using a Henge would draw their suspicions. If he simply wore a mask that hid his whiskers, nobody would bat an eye because many ninja liked to wear masks.
Moreover, unlike most rogue ninja who wore their slashed headbands with pride, advertising their former allegiance and inviting all sorts of trouble, Naruto had never entertained the thought of doing something as foolish as that.
Suddenly, a spike of negative emotions prickled at his senses. Judging by how faint it was, he reckoned his pursuers must be a few kilometres away.
‘I had a feeling I was being followed. But I didn’t think they’d chase me all the way here.’’
Over the past 7 years, the only way for Naruto to earn a living without revealing his identity was by collecting bounties. In the ninja world, nobody cared about the bounty hunters’ identities; the only thing they cared about was for the criminals to be apprehended or exterminated. Ironically, it was this sort of environment that allowed outlaws like Uzumaki Naruto or Kakuzu of the Akatsuki to thrive.
That being said, there were not many outposts where bounty hunters could go in order to cash in their bounties; there were only five such places on the entire continent, each one of them located in one of the Five Great Nations.
‘The Akatsuki and Konoha must have people spying on those places 24/7.’
He had always known that, but it was not like he could stop being a bounty hunter. It was a risk he had to take because his livelihood depended on it.
‘A fight between shinobi would devastate these people’s homes and fields.’
⁂
“How much would all this be?” Naruto asked as he looked at all the jerky meat, sausages, and packs of salt and sugar piled up on the counter.
“That would be 5000 Ryo, good sir,” the shop owner said with a smile, rubbing his hands all the while. It was not often that his customers spent that much money in one go at his little shop.
‘Overpriced… but not exaggerated.’
Normally, he would have haggled, but knowing that he was being pursued, he decided not to spend a second longer in the village than strictly necessary. He did not want those simple people to be caught in the crossfire and die. For ordinary civilians, battles between Jonin-rank Shinobi and above were like disasters of nature, like a calamity.
“Alright, here’s your money, old man,” Naruto said and gave him several notes.
Watching him hurriedly pack the goods he had purchased into his large backpack, the merchant asked:
“Perhaps I could serve you some snacks and a drink? You look like you’ve spent a long time on the road. You must be weary. There’s nothing like a cup of good sake to reinvigorate your body. It’s also 100% natural, brewed and bottled up in our village, from our crops. You won’t find this sort of good stuff in the city even for twice the price.”
“Sorry, old man. I’m in a bit of a rush. But thank you for your good intentions. Here, take this too, for your troubles,” Naruto replied as he tightened the cord at the mouth of his backpack and gave the merchant a small tip, a coin of 10 Ryo.
Waving goodbye, he hoisted the heavy backpack on his shoulder and left the shop. Then, with a blur of speed, he was gone.
⁂
He ran towards the northeast for over fifty kilometres. That distance was hardly significant for most ninjas but it was far enough for the village and its rice fields to have long since faded out of sight.
Arriving at a rope bridge, Naruto took out two exploding tags and glued them in places not easy to spot at first glance before quickly crossing to the other side of the chasm.
Then, several dozen shadow clones appeared next to him before scattering in all directions and transforming themselves into random pebbles and blades of grass, blending in with the environment.
Only a few moments after he finished preparing the field to his advantage, a small toad appeared in front of the rope bridge.
‘It’s not just some ANBU scrubs like I had hoped,’ Naruto thought, frowning.
The small toad opened its mouth wider than its entire body, and a fully grown man jumped out of it. It was a burly old man with long white hair and a peculiar outfit. It was a face Naruto and pretty much any other ninja worth their salt could recognise. He was Jiraiya, one of the Sannin.
“I’ll admit I’m impressed. I can even fool the Hyuuga with my jutsu, but it seems you were expecting me. How did you know I was following you?”
“How about you get closer if you want to talk,” Naruto goaded him, ignoring his compliment.
Jiraiya laughed good-naturedly.
“Word of advice, boy. Next time, try not to make it too obvious. Even a fool could tell that you booby-trapped the bridge.”
The chasm between the two cliffs traversed by the rope bridge was quite wide; with both of them standing on opposite sides of the chasm, they had to shout to talk to each other.
“Now, how about you and I go and have a cup of sake together? Or maybe you prefer soju?”
When Naruto didn’t reply, Jiraiya continued:
“There is no need for us to fight. You know, I’m actually the one who named you; your father and I-”
But that was all he had the time to say before a deadly vortex of wind was hurled at him, and he was forced to quickly raise a wall of mud in front of him to protect himself.
“Goddamn it, boy, why do you make it more difficult than it has to be?” Jiraiya shouted at Naruto from behind his mud wall. “Aren’t you tired of running away? Aren’t you sick of being chased all over the world by the Akatsuki and by Konoha’s black ops too? Come back home.”
Naruto’s answer was to take out a Kunai, coat it in lightning nature chakra, and throw it at Jiraiya across the chasm. Simultaneously, he also formed the hand seals for the Shuriken Kage Bunshin technique.
“I’ve killed nearly 40 of Konoha’s ANBUs over the last 7 years. You’re saying Konoha will take me in with open arms after all that? Stop with the bullshit, old man!”
The lightning-coated shuriken suddenly multiplied, covering the sky like a swarm of locusts.
Jiraiya let out a cuss word as he hurriedly formed a snake seal with his hands. His white hair grew to immense proportions, enveloping his entire body into a cocoon of hair.
And it was not a moment too soon because the swarm of lightning-coated shurikens pierced through the mud wall as if it were made of paper and even sank deeply into his tough hair armor jutsu.
⁂
Little did Jiraiya know that the real Naruto had slipped away even before he arrived at the bridge; the one fighting against the Toad Sannin was just a Shadow Clone.
As for Naruto himself, he was sprinting towards the mountains at his fastest speed.
Jiraiya was not the only one who had been pursuing him. His Negative Emotions Sensing had picked up three more signatures.
‘How are they closing in so quickly? I’m running as fast as I can!’ he thought in disbelief.
His question was answered when two clay birds started homing on him like missiles.
‘Damn it. It’s Deidara.’
No matter how fast he ran, he would not be able to outspeed someone who was flying and did not have trees, rocks, rivers, and other obstacles blocking their way.
A sound like a thunderclap boomed when Naruto clapped his hands, and a wave of lightning was discharged from his body in all directions, annihilating the clay birds homing on him.
‘Oi, Kyuubi. I might need some help real soon,’ Naruto sent his thoughts to the bijuu inside of him.
“Is it the Akatsuki again, huh?” came the fox’s deep voice.
It was far from their first run-in with the Akatsuki. After spending 7 years being hunted by the Akatsuki, he was familiar with most of them. He had even killed Deidara’s partner, Sasori of the Red Sand, with his own two hands a few months ago and left Deidara disfigured.
Ten minutes later, Naruto skidded to a stop when a gargantuan amount of water appeared in front of him out of nowhere. It flooded the entire region and wiped out all the trees in its way like a tsunami wave.
It was a water jutsu on a scale above anything he had ever seen until then.
⁂
Jiraiya wiped the blood trailing from the corner of his mouth and coughed a few times. There were bleeding cuts and burn marks all over his body.
‘To think they were all shadow clones. I’ve been duped.’
Not only that he had not known that the real Naruto had slipped away, but he had also taken some serious damage in his fight against the clones.
“Jiraiya-chan, focus your senses! The boy may yet still be around!” came a voice from his left.
“Ma is right. I can sense a large chakra signature with my Sage senses far into the distance. Head to 9 o’clock! Hurry up!” came a voice from his right.
The two of them were Ma and Pa, the Elder Toads from Mount Myoboku; they were fused into Jiraiya’s shoulders in order to help him attain Sage Mode.
“Just let me catch my breath for a moment. I’m not a spring chicken anymore.”
“Our senjutsu will heal you on the way there. You can’t afford to let him escape!”
“Pa is right. Who knows when you’ll be able to track him down again? And you saw it yourself. His clones were using Kyuubi’s charka! What if he ends up becoming a perfect Jinchuuriki in a year or two? It’s now or never!”
“Alright, alright,” Jiraiya said, groaning as he stood up.
The Toad Sannin was inwardly thanking the gods that there were no women anywhere around to see the horrendous appearance of his Sage Mode as he started running in the direction that the Elder Toads told him to.
A few minutes later, he stopped in his tracks, stupefied.
The forest ahead of him had been devastated, flooded by an immense amount of water.
One person stood on top of the newly created lake on his hands and knees, their Akatsuki cloak in tatters. Not far from him, the gory remains of what appeared to be two corpses floated on the water as well.
“What in the world happened here?” Jiraiya muttered in disbelief as he started water walking towards the kneeling member of the Akatsuki.
It did not take a genius to understand what had transpired, and after taking a second glance at his surroundings, Jiraiya put the clues together too.
The Mad Bomber, Deidara. The Monster of the Mist, Hoshikage Kisame. The Kinslayer, Uchiha Itachi.
Those three members of the Akatsuki had attacked the real Naruto, but they suffered a cruel defeat. Two of them had died a savage death if the way their bodies had been mangled was anything to go by. Only one among the three was still alive.
“Uchiha Itachi,” Jiraiya called out his name.
When the Uchiha turned around at the sound of his voice, Jiraiya let out a quiet gasp at the sight of his eyes. What he saw was not the peculiar pattern or the blood-red colour of Uchiha Itachi’s infamous Mangekyo Sharingan. Itachi’s eyes were milky white. . . He was blind.
“Jiraiya of the Sannin. I guess this is where it all ends,” said Itachi, and he let himself fall on his back, floating on top of the water, just waiting for the Toad Sage to take his life.
“I’m not here to kill you. Explain to me what happened,” Jiraiya said in a hurry. “Where is Uzumaki Naruto?”
“He is gone. Deidara and Kisame perished at his hands. And I overused my Mangekyo.”
Noticing his voice getting weaker, Jiraiya quickly kneeled down next to him and cast the Mystical Palm technique to heal him.
“It’s useless. . . It’s not just my eyesight. . . I’m ill. I only have a few moments left to live. . .” Itachi said. “Listen, I have two pieces of information left to give you. . . My little brother, Sasuke. . . he found out the truth about the Uchiha. . . he will attack Konoha soon.”
“The truth about the Uchiha? What do you mean?!” asked Jiraiya, caught off guard by what he had just heard.
“The second is . . . Uzumaki . . . Six tails . . .”
And with that, Uchiha Itachi breathed his last.
Jiraiya did not give him a second glance. Instead, a dark look appeared on his face.
‘Naruto can already control six tails of Kyuubi’s chakra? His clones were using only three tails. This is bad.'
The fact that Uchiha Sasuke was going to attack the village did not alarm Jiraiya in the least. Orochimaru failed to destroy the Leaf even after joining forces with another one of the Five Great Nations, Sunagakure.
‘Konoha isn’t as weak as to fall to the likes of Uchiha Sasuke.’
He was more worried about Uzumaki Naruto’s progress in controlling his tailed beast. Nobody had ever managed to become a perfect jinchuuriki of the Nine Tails.
The thought that an enemy of Konoha would get a hold of such immense power left him on edge.
⁂
Two hours after his life-and-death battle against the three members of the Akatsuki, Naruto stumbled through the entrance of the cave he used as his hideout and collapsed on the rocky floor powerlessly.
Despite how drained he appeared to be on the outside, inwardly, he was having a heated discussion with Kyuubi.
‘Finally showing your true colours, eh? I bet you can’t wait for me to die.’
“If I had wanted you dead, I wouldn’t have shared my chakra with you, moron,” Kyuubi shouted at him in an aggravated voice.
‘Then why aren’t you healing my arm now?!’ Naruto shouted back at him with desperation in his voice.
“I told you I can’t! Get it through that thick skull of yours already! I’m not a god! I can’t create a whole arm out of nothing! The best I can do is staunch the wound and close it up!"
Seeing as the fox was getting enraged and not sensing any lies in his words, Naruto let out a shuddering breath.
He cupped the stump of his left shoulder with his right hand, gripping it tightly in frustration.
After going into version 2 of his jinchuuriki cloak and drawing 6 tails worth of Kyuubi’s chakra, Naruto had easily torn Kisame and Deidara to shreds, killing them brutally.
However, Uchiha Itachi had been different. His Susanoo had protected him from his savage onslaught just long enough for him to cast Amaterasu.
As black flames hotter than the sun engulfed his left arm, Naruto was forced to sever his own arm and run away, escaping with his life.
“Fuck. Fuck!” he shouted in frustration, his voice echoing loudly in the cave.
Losing one arm in his current situation was simply the worst. He might as well have died.
He was a nuke-nin with a bounty of 500,000,000 Ryo on his head. Forget about the two titans, Akatsuki and Konoha, who wanted to kill him. Now that he only had one arm, he’d have to worry about other bounty hunters coming for him too.
Having just one arm often put an end to a shinobi or a kunoichi’s career. Ninja needed two hands to cast jutsu.
Naruto could control all five elements and knew dozens of elemental techniques, but all those went up in smoke the moment he lost one of his arms.
‘I can’t even cast Kage Bunshin anymore.’
⁂ The Land of Moon, two weeks later ⁂
“That’s your big idea? Really?” Kyuubi’s sardonic voice rang in his mind.
‘Shut up, I’m in the middle of an interview!’ Naruto bit back at him, all the while trying to look as if he was paying attention to what was going on.
“Interview for what? Becoming a pirate?” the fox snorted.
While the two of them were conversing, Naruto displayed his strength by throwing a punch at a cliff on the shoreline, shattering it into smithereens.
‘Not a pirate, stupid fox, but an escort. Now stop nagging me, my interviewer is looking at me.’
His interviewer was a tall and strong-looking man wearing ornate mail armour with a curved sabre strapped at his waist.
“You there, the man with one arm. What’s your name?”
“Teruya Kou,” Naruto lied as easily as he drew breath. “I’m from the Land of Mountains, a small country bordering the Land of Earth.”
“Are you a shinobi? How come you’re not working for a Hidden Village?” the man asked, crossing his muscled arms to his chest.
“I lost my arm during the Chunin Exams when I was younger. A Suna puppeteer poisoned me. I had to cut my own arm to not let poison spread to the rest of the body. As you can probably tell, I can’t use ninjutsu anymore. . . but I’m 100% confident I won’t lose to anyone or anything in a fistfight.”
“Hm, I see. You pass. Speak with Mr Tanaka for more information,” his interviewer said and gestured towards the makeshift table behind him where a tall and thin man sat. He was wearing a monocle and an outfit that looked quite strange compared to what Naruto was used to seeing. Tight, elegant green pants, shiny black leather shoes, a long brown coat, and a perfectly ironed white shirt.
While the intellectual-looking man was explaining to Naruto the nature of the expedition they were about to start, Kyuubi started nagging Naruto from the seal.
“Oi, Naruto. You can’t be serious!”
Naruto sighed. 'Look at me; I’m a cripple now. How do you expect me to fight off the rest of the Akatsuki or that depraved Toad Sage when they track me down again?’
“What you’re doing is madness. It’s not different from throwing your life away!” shouted the fox.
The reason for Kyuubi’s vehemence was that Mr Tanka just told him that the expedition could take even as long as 3 years.
Located on an island in the shape of a crescent moon, unlike the rest of the countries in the Ninja World, the Land of Moon did not have a Daimyo but a King. Far removed from the struggles between the Five Great Nations and specializing in trading and commerce, the Land of Moon was a rather prosperous and peaceful nation.
And that was what led to the current situation: sponsored by the royal family, Mr Tanka and the armoured man started recruiting a crew for their ship. It was going to be an expedition into the uncharted waters of the boundless ocean.
It was, by far, not the first time that someone had set sail towards the unknown in hopes of discovering new lands. However, without exception, it always ended up in failure. Oftentimes, not even one person survived to tell the tale. The ocean monsters, the volatile weather, and a lack of knowledge about what lay in wait for them usually led to complete annihilation..
Nevertheless, the Land of Moon’s king was undaunted, and so were the men of science serving him too. Whereas the king was driven by materialistic reasons, it was curiosity and a thirst for knowledge that drove scholars the likes of Mr Tanaka to risk their lives on such perilous endeavours.
“Goddamn it, Naruto! I didn’t keep you alive for all these years for you to throw your life away like this!” Kyuubi shouted at him.
‘If I stay on the continent, sooner or later, either that shitty pervert or those Akatsuki trashes will track me down again. And when they get their hands on us, they’ll kill me, and you’ll get sealed,’ Naruto shot back snarkily. ‘But if you have any brilliant ideas you haven’t told me yet, by all means, I’m all ears.’
Kyuubi paced around in his cage restlessly for a few moments before saying:
“I actually do have a better idea. . .”
‘Well, go on. Don’t keep me hanging.’
“Release the seal. Kill yourself.”
Momentarily, Naruto was stupefied. Kyuubi’s words caught him so unprepared that it even showed on his face.
“Ah, as I thought. . . all the potential employees back away the moment they hear what sort of expedition they would be a part of,” Mr Tanaka said in disappointment, having interpreted the change in Naruto’s facial expression as a sign of his refusal.
“No, no,” said Naruto quickly. “I was just a little surprised. I’m actually interested.”
“You are?” Mr Tanka said, his voice betraying how hopeful he was. The monstrous physical strength that Naruto had just demonstrated had left everyone there in awe. The expedition desperately needed people of his calibre to protect the ships from the oceanic monsters’ attacks.
“It’s my chance to be part of something big. I have a good feeling in my gut,” said Naruto confidently.
To cement his words, he grabbed Mr Tanaka’s pen and signed his name on the contract.
“We’ll depart in two days. Please settle your affairs and be ready to depart by then.”
Once he signed the contract, Naruto bid his goodbyes and returned to the inn where he was staying. However, throughout the whole trip back to the inn, Kyuubi never stopped pestering him.
“You owe me, Naruto. If not for me, you would’ve remained in Konoha even after all these years, like a good and obedient weapon.”
‘I’m not killing myself; what the hell?! Have you gone mad?’ Naruto shouted at him in disbelief.
But Kyuubi was relentless.
“You said it yourself: now that you lost an arm, you’d be dead meat if the Akatsuki or Konoha were to find you again. You’ll surely die next time you clash against them. Your days are numbered. So, instead of-”
‘Yeah, I said that myself. That’s why I decided to join a sailboat so that it would be impossible for them to find me.’
“Damn it, Naruto! If you’re going to die anyway, why do you want to drag me to the grave with you?” Kyuubi shouted in a mixture of anger and frustration. “Just let me out! I don’t want to die with you!”
“How many times did I share my chakra with you? How many times have I healed your wounds? How many times have I helped you defeat your enemies? How many times has my ability to sense negative emotions saved you? You owe me, Naruto!”
Naruto didn’t know whether to laugh or shout profanities at the bijuu.
‘Are you really out of your mind? I’m not going to die, you stupid fox! And I’m not killing myself either!’
The roar of rage that came from Kyuubi next made Naruto momentarily stop walking and grab his head with his hand from the sudden, skull-splitting headache.
“Ungrateful brat! Worthless human! You’re all like this! Always using me for your benefit but never doing anything in return!” Kyuubi shouted. “Fine, do whatever the hell you want! But even if you survive this so-called expedition, don’t ever talk to me again. Never ask for my help in the future! You and I, we are done!”
And with that, the fox severed his mental connection with Naruto.
The blond let out a sigh of both relief and frustration: relief that the fox finally stopped screaming in his head and frustration because he didn’t know what the hell had suddenly come over the bijuu to act like that.
‘Does he know something about the ocean that we don’t? What makes him so sure that I’ll die on this expedition?’
He snorted.
‘Hmpf! Did he really think I’d open the seal and let him out? Am I really that stupid in his eyes?’
Although he and Kyuubi had formed an unlikely partnership over the past 7 years, Naruto had never considered him a friend, and neither did Kyuubi think of Naruto as his comrade.
When all was said and done, Kyuubi had murdered Naruto’s parents on the day he was born and Naruto was Kyuubi’s jailor. They were more like a mixture of friends and enemies. They were frenemies: two beings who hated each other but were forced to work together for the sake of their survival: Naruto did not want to die and Kyuubi did not want to be captured by the Akatsuki.
Arriving at the inn, Naruto let out another scoff of disbelief as he opened the door of his room:
“The nerve of him. He really thought I’d kill myself just because he told me to do it.”
Now that he was in his room, Naruto locked the door and started sorting through his luggage. Opening his backpack, he took out several small scrolls with different kanji written on them.
Non-perishable food and a few dozen bottles of water, money, shurikens and kunai, ninja wire and smoke bombs, kindling and wood for starting a fire, several changes of clothes and shoes, and other bits and tools—Naruto had packed all of his belongings into 10 or so sealing scrolls. Nevertheless, most of the space in his backpack was not occupied by those ten or small scrolls but by a very large and thick Sealing Scroll.
It was the Scroll of Seals that Naruto had stolen from Konoha on the day he defected, 7 years ago. Konoha’s ANBU and the Toad Sage were so desperate to capture him not only because he was the jinchuuriki of the Nine Tails but also because the Scroll of Seals was in his possession too. They could never rest easy knowing that such dangerous knowledge was in the hands of a defector.

AN: 1 Ryo (Naruto world) = 10 Yen (real life). To put it into better perspective, 1,500 Ryo = 15,000 Yen = 95 Euro.
Naruto’s bounty converted to Euro:
- Dead: 12.6 million Euro
- Alive: 31.6 million Euro

AN2: the premise of the fic is that the Elemental Nations and Runeterra are on the same planet. I know it's not perfect - it's extremely difficult to merge two different universes perfectly - but I think it could work out with a bit of tweaking.
The two main reasons for that are that
- Runeterra is not fully explored. There still are regions covered by mist.
- the Ninja World's history is very short. The Sage of the Six Paths lived only 1000 years in the past. We have no information about the events before that. Therefore, we could easily interpret that the Ninja World is just a continent that was split and hurled to the other side of the planet after the calamity of the Rune Wars.
Nonetheless. This is just some background information. According to the current story arcs and the plot that I have prepared, the Ninja World will probably not appear again in the story.
This fic will be focused on various events from the League of Legends, not those of the Elemental Nations.

Sorry for the long Author's Notes. I had to mention this stuff now, in the first chapter, so that you all know what to expect from the fic.

Comments
As long as Gai was in the village, Konoha Crush was bound to fail regardless. As for Orochimaru and Sasuke, Naruto's role was not that big when it comes to how things went down between the two of them because Orochimaru wanted Sasuke to mature and grow up a bit more before possessing him. Genin Naruto wasn't strong enough to influence Orochimaru's actions in the least.

2024-11-03 05:33:45 +0000 UTCHonestly with Naruto gone I would have expected things to go bad for Konoha like the Konoha Crush being successful without Naruto to stop Gaara, Tsunade not being Hokage, Orochimaru being able to take over Sasuke's body without Naruto to interfere and delay him with their battle, etc
