Behind the Scenes: 3175X Build

We typically try to keep our CPU and GPU test parts out of workstation builds, mostly because the unavailability created by their inclusion isn't worth the (1) downtime in a production machine when a part is pulled, and (2) downtime in a test machine. The 3175X is unique in that way, though: Not many people are buying it at this point and we also just recently posted a revisit of the part, so we won't need to revisit it again for at least a year or two. Rather than let the part sit on the shelf for a year, we're going to solve our production machine bottlenecks and put a new one together. We just assembled that 3960X machine and it has helped a lot, but the secondary editing position is now slowed down by the 8086K. This will give us something to do with the part while also offering us a fun head-to-head benchmark between our two production machines.

In a change of pace, I asked Patrick and Keegan to film a video on the parts we're going to use and why we're using them. We'll be doing a stream in the next week or two on this build, but here's a Patreon-only behind-the-scenes look that's hosted by Patrick, whom you rarely get to see on the main channel. Enjoy the change of pace!

That case looks almost exactly like a Rosewill Cullinan V500 !

Great job Patrick! I am a huge fan and always happy to see you in front of the camera.

That was pretty cool, seems unscripted too.

Not bad, Patrick! Always nice to see you, and especially see you get more comfortable in front of the camera. Well done.

Cool video. I have always liked hearing Patrick's thought process about decisions they make.

That Monsta radiator is cracking me up. You could use that in a small car.

Corsair's oem for radiators is actually Hardware Labs. So those are some of the best performing 30 mm radiators on the market.
