FISH BAIT Ballistic Gel and WHY NO TARP!?! Are we idiots?
Added 2022-05-27 01:53:28 +0000 UTCI hate dealing with ballistic gel and I imagine this is the general consensus of anyone who has used it and recast it. Because SO many people are really bothered each time the gel block lands in the dirt and suggest putting a tarp down, I felt it was easier to address that than reply to hundreds of commenters who thought they were the first people to ever suggest using a tarp. Next, I also offer a helpful tip for removing the gel from a mold. Finally I discuss the use of Plastisol as a ballistic medium.
Now, are we idiots? The jury is still out on that one.

2022-05-27 23:08:20 +0000 UTCAll you really have to do to keep the BG block clean is to wrap it with duct tape, and then suspend it above the table using sky hooks. The gel will then swing out of the frame when hit, and you won't be able to see anything through the duct tape, but it won't fall in the dirt. Problem solved! As an alternate way of dealing with the difficulty of removing the gel from the mold, you could just leave the gel in the mold. That way, when you are done shooting, you just duct tape the holes in the mold, re-melt the gel, fish the bullet fragments out, and let it set again - no need for soap. Duct tape to the rescue again!
