im ngl i forgot how (let’s say) “intense” some of these scenes are cause its been forever since ive watched it. But yes the multiple plot twists in this movie are fantastic and the way they unravel the real story throughout each part was really well done to me when i first watched it. Like you said even though “those” scenes are definitely a lot, the film does an excellent job of showing what the purpose of it is supposed to be (i.e. discovery of true companionship and eventual freedom from punishment). I’m glad you liked it for the most part LOL. This is considered one of the best korean films to come out of the last decade because of its storytelling and filmmaking.
