Wow.

My Cage

i had to rebuild after my wife died in 2012. I survived with the aid of my my Father-in-Law. Then, my Father-in-Law died at 96 in 2021. So, since then I have been rebuilding again. Now, it is only me and my cat Ziva. My mother in law's people dislike me because I am a Democrat/Liberal. My father in Law's folks are gone except for his older sister (who is also a Republican). My side of the family is all gone except for a distant cousin or two that I hardly know and have not seen in 25 years or more. At 63 and in "okay" health, I am not dating and do not want to. I survive by going to work, having a few GREAT friends and my love of old movies, books, and music.

Had a stroke. Totally changed who I was. I remember that guy, but suddenly I was somebody else dropped into his life. I kept waiting for him to come back, but he never did. Eventually I had to start making my life from scratch rather than trying to make his life my life, because that just wasn't working. What got me through it - and it's still a work in progress - was when I stopped being stubborn and insisting I didn't need anybody's help, and started accepting help. Essentially, all I had to do was quit being a bonehead. I think the guy I am now is nicer than the guy I was in a lot of ways.
