My Cage "Classic" 10/16/2009

Again, originally I wanted the characters to be more naturally colored. The syndicate wanted them to be multi-colored because....(sigh)...they thought there were going to be toys made of the characters eventually, and the colors would help them stand out on the shelves. (sigh) :(

QotD: If you could create a "Mount Rushmore" for something you enjoy, what would it be for, and what 4 people would be on it?

Coulda added Zeppo or Gummo. And I always preferred Shemp to Curly

Jon Benson

Okay, so, as a sort of overall theme, fire, (and no, I don't know how I would depict that), the wheel, farming implements, and a printing press. The developement of all these things has kept me warm and happy. (Speaking of printing presses, I just today received my copy of "My Cage, Year One., from Amazon They said it was their last copy.)

Jon Benson

Either Harpo, Groucho, and Chico, or Curly, Moe, Larry, and Shemp. Yes, Shemp. Shemp was awesome. It would be a monument to "American sensibility"...

Yer pal Mikey

Nice picks BTW.

:D :D :D

My Cage

LOL. No.

My Cage

I bet the most popular plushie would end up being Creepy Janitor Guy.

Jon Benson

Does it have to be people?

Jon Benson

It would be for the people who enriched my life and creativity...the first two are easy: Alfred Hitchcock and Walt Disney, the two greatest filmmakers of the 20th century. (Hitchock's face is already up there on the "North by Northwest" movie poster.) I truly believe their work will survive the centuries; people will be watching their films centuries from now, the same way Shakespeare is still read and performed. The last two are trickier; can I squeeze all four Beatles onto one head? But for that last head I'd choose underground cartoonist Robert Crumb. PS: I'd love a plush Norm (with a frustrated look on his face!)

No Rushmore for me. Ecological and cultural controversy aside, I'm reluctant to honor anybody after all the times my heroes proved unworthy. And when I do think someone merits positive attention, I'd rather give it individually, not to a whole group at once.

Stephen Gilberg

I don't blame the syndicate for that. Maybe I'm biased by initial experience, but I think all-natural colors on the MC cast would look relatively boring.

Hiking, camping, backpacking. John Muir, Theodore Roosevelt, Edward Abbey, Ansel Adams
