I'm torn on the stranger-on-a-train thing, because I think it comes down to what kind of person the stranger is. I'm not an outgoing person by any means, but I have had some really good conversations with strangers on public transportation. But here's the rub: I've also been sexually assaulted by a seemingly friendly man I was talking to, and I have been forced into conversations with people who are pants-shittingly deranged. As a 5'1" woman, it feels like I'm playing Russian roulette every time I interact with randos. Am I going to have a charming conversation that leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy inside, or will this encounter haunt me for years? These days, I just wall myself off, because the risk doesn't seem worth the potential reward.

I’m entirely on team Cecil about the forced conversations on the train!!
