They contacted her brother. He thought she had gone into a care home. He called around and found one with a patient of the same name and reported back to the neighbors. The neighbors took turns mowing her lawn. 4 years later, during a deep freeze one Friday, the city enter the home under emergency conditions to deal with a burst pipe. To get in, they had to force the front door open and wade through a waist-high mound of mail. They went into the kitchen where the woman's remains were, turned off the water and left. Without noticing her body due to the amount of trash that covered the floor. When they returned the following Monday, they discovered the body. Her brother hadn't even talked to her when he called the care home, nor visited her in the intervening years.
