Going out walking with my cat Bill works well. I carry a guitar and a pocketful of peanuts. The cat has figured out that the squirrels are more fun to watch than to actually try to kill, and the squirrels have figured out that the cat is not really interested in killing them. And they've both figured out that it's fun to play chase each other - yes, each other! And the squirrels have also figured out that I carry a pocketful of peanuts.
