Also I was a customer service manager at an electronics store 9+ years ago: Newegg wants all the contents because they actually have zero leverage with the wholesale distributor who sets the draconian terms for returns, which is “send us everything or GTFO.” Because every level wants to try to repair and resell the product rather than RMA it further up the chain, because they risk being refused, too.
