Just met a covid survivor this week. Their case started out mild and ended up with them in the hospital for months after suffering a stroke and a heart weakened to the point of needing a transplant. Covid ravaged their body. They are in their late 20’s early 30’s and pretty healthy and fit. They finally returned to work after 6 months of recovery. That wasn’t the Delta variant.

We had to give up something for Lent and did the no meat Friday thing. The good news is that one year I gave up Catholicism for Lent and never looked back.

2021-08-22 19:33:37 +0000 UTCI wonder if republican anti-vaxxer politicians and the right wing media promoting vaccine hesitancy are actually shooting themselves in the foot for the next election. If they discourage their own constituents to not vax and not wear masks, then republicans will disproportionately die in higher numbers from covid. We already see how red states are being pummeled by the delta variant. Next election cycle, there may be less republicans alive to vote.

I fully understand your wish to influence those that have another view (who doesn’t?). But perhaps it is more than enough that your message give us libtards an understanding of the fact that there are other people that are thinking in the same way? At least to me, it is extremely invigorating to listen to people that have a view similar to mine. Perhaps that is more than enough? For me personally, your pod has made me a better person since you have given me several new perspectives. And I bring those perspectives into the society in my role as a teacher. If you consider how many listeners you have, you have a greater influence than you perhaps are aware of… All my best / S

Btw, this was pre autism/wakefield etc. But she was keen on the idea of that natural immunity was better and/or that evolution would take care of it and/or crappy side effects sometimes. What worked on her was the seatbelt analogy Tom used. Technology IS an evolutionary response was the angle I took. We can wear seatbelts right now, OR we can wait 5000 generations to all evolve hard carapaces maybe. Response was 'Well, what about when seat-belts weren't mandatory then? I survived' 'Well, Ma, lucky you. Lets look at a few stats from the 1950/60's shall we? Also, your car now has ALL the safety features, and you were willing to pay extra for them.'' That almost got her there. The last thing was the weakening immunity thing. I used the analogy that a vaccine is like having your village attacked by plastic tanks. Military back then after all. You build the counter measures and fortifications, defeat them easily and they're already in place for if the real thing ever comes along. Or not, best of luck figuring that shit out on the fly. Non fearsome plastic tanks worked for her. She got her 2nd Astra Zeneca shot with no prompting from me last week.... Sorry again for the long post, I seem to be developing a habit!
