My Cage "Classic" 09/05/07

This wasn't really a cartoon, or even animated, but the original Captain Scarlet was pretty cool. And I only recently found out that they did reboot it as an animation, with really pretty good CGI. I with they'd give Eighth Man and Speed Racer the same treatment. (If they have done this, someone please let me know. ) I also think the Captain Scarlet would have been a better choice for live action movies that either Speed Racer or Thunderbirds. (There was a live action Eighth Man, but it was pretty bad.)

Yeah, the original Marvel Super Heroes used a limited animation technique similar to Space Angel, and also the actual comic book art, but I can't remember if they used Synchro-Vox. I didn't think of it till now, but the old Fleisher Superman cartoons have held up really well. That Rotoscoping tech they used was incredible for the time.

I loved the Pirates of Dark Water! It always bummed me out that the story was never completed. -Mel

My Cage

Neat, I’ll want to give that movie a look. As for “Thundercats Roar,” I try to pretend it never existed.

VGR

My son LOVES that show!

My Cage

Yes. Networks are much more willing to do kids shows with lore nowadays.

My Cage

YES! With the budget it deserves!

My Cage

Kevin Smith is doing a He-Man sequel movie or something. Did you see "Thundercats Roar!"?

My Cage

I am a huge geek, and you have stumped me on this one. To the Google Machine!

My Cage

Just thought of another one I'd like them to bring back: Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy - that show was so much more twisted than almost anything on Adult Swim - & much funnier

JoeStrike

Ever see the "Mr. Incredible & Pals" short on the Incredibles DVD? Got the same creepy 'human lips on non-animated background' look

JoeStrike

I'm old, and haven't followed all the reboots, and this is a fairly old show, but I really liked Space Angel back in the day. It used the same Synchro-Vox lip technique as Clutch Cargo, but worked much better because it also used Alex Toth's artwork, and because it was outer space based, having limited animation didn't detract from the action. I also liked the original 8th Man, and the original Speed Racer, but I haven't liked the reboots of them, animated OR live action.

Little Dog Lost. Lost Sheep. Love them!

If this was a year ago I would've said Darkwing Duck, but they've brought him back as a character in the revived "DuckTales" series. Now that Cartoon Network is reviving a lot of their classic series I'd enjoy seeing more Johnny Bravo.

JoeStrike

that might be hit or miss. Betty was very much a product of her times, but I'd like someone to take a shot at it without screwing it up too much

JoeStrike

Now THAT'S going waay back!

JoeStrike

The Pirates of Dark Water. Truly before its time, it would actually have a chance to flourish within the current TV climate.

Riley Williams II

The Tick.

Ryan Edgar

Betty Boop. There was going to be a re-boop of her series by the folks that did Reboot, but it fell through.

John

He-Man (which had a reboot but it was truly bland after the pilot), Thundercats (which had a good reboot but it was canceled early for not selling enough toys).

VGR

I would like to see a syndicate re-run Our Boarding House with Major Hoople from the beginning. A re-boot might be interesting, but give me the original if I have a choice.
