The contest was odd, because it started officially ok'd and promoted by our then syndicate, King's Features, but when only 40 people submitted they decided to no longer back it. I thought that was pretty good for a new strip (and you also had to like our My Space page to enter [HEY! It was 11 years ago! :D )
Also, Scott Adams from Dilbert ran a contest to have his new strip 'Unfit' drawn by a new artist and it got 80 entries and that was to work with one of the most popular cartoonist of all time on a regular basis, so I think we did OK.
King Features did not. So they disowned the contest. We announced the winners on the My Space page, but KFS dd not acknowledge it.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE KFS. The people there was great and 99% of the time I was happy pleased as hell punch to be there. But this was one of the few times I feel like we got the short end of the chew stick.
Eventually I'll write the whole funny story...but today...IT'S FAN-ART FRIDAY!!! <3
