Hello usually when Blockhead crashes then macOS will generate a crash report so if you can send it to me at colugomusic@gmail.com then I might be able to figure out what's wrong

I am a bit confused. My comment appears to have been deleted. I mentioned how BH doesnt work on my mac os 10.14 mojave, none of the f1 functions come up, clicking around does nothing, and clicking the gear instantly and reliably crashes it. i really really want to use this, could you please help? I cant upgrade my OS because my HD is full and i need more space, but dont know how to reliably transfer all my ableton projects to my external drive. thats not what im asking about thats just why I cant or wont upgrade my OS to use more usable modern OS

Norasu

okay, thanks man! keep on with the updates ive recently just gotten it so im going to try my best to experiment! :)

I didn't realize you did Linux builds, thank you very much, I hope tit's not dependent on jack I can't stand jack, maybe one day I'll figure it out but I've no such luck so far tried a few times, but if I can't figure out how to get it running in an hour it's not ready yet lol the standard sound system is fine for what I need anyway

I like the idea of skinning this program especially if it uses SVG I prefer working with vectors, I’ll be looking forward to that day I’ll make a couple good themes for sure. If it’s not terribly complicated I’ll make a bunch. Just a bit of advice for theming support, the fewer colors we have to set the better. I’ve done a fair amount of this stuff and the ones that are more complicated I only do a couple but if I only have to pick out 10 or so colors I do a lot more. Pair that with custom icons for the most used or “front facing” functions and you have a robust skinning engine that people actually want to use. Yes you can do quite a bit with vital’s interface, if you notice it’s the same few people doing 90% of the skins, and that’s how it always seems to go. But take something like mela 5 or fasttracker 2, I can literally give them a new look in just a few minutes, I don’t use FT2 that much anymore since I got an MPC but I still use mela all the time and half the time when I sit down I either use one of mine or I just make a new one, I really love that it can suit my mood in a snap. I do think custom Icons would be great along with a consolodated color picker. That’s my 2 cents. Ikm sure it will be discussed more when it comes time though Although I do like the interface it currently has I like how clean it looks, and I love the fact that you’re not afraid of sharp edges or lines. It reminds of some kind of cross between GTK and JAVA interfaces, I love it. Actually now that i think of it, there was a windows launcher replacement back in the day I can’t remember what it was called, but it was awesome I used it for a while, your program reminds me of it a lot. But I’m one of those people that will change it up as much as you let me, like maybe let us replace anything you use an image file for, but just please keep the color count low, and if you do decide to make it really flexible then please do the color picker like energyXT that’s one with a lot of flexibility that is still very usable, I just did one a couple months ago in about 3 or 4 hours, it had been like 10 years since I did one so it could have been faster…. but my point is theres a couple hundred colors to set but the way it presents it all makes it much more manageable. If you make it like that I’ll go all out and spend some time on it, this is a program that’s definitely worth it. I definitely want to make some icons that is where you get to put your signature on it. I don’t th8nk eXT lets you do that I know there is bitmap support but if I remember right it’s mainly for textures. I like doing that too, soon I’m going to do one for it that includes that I absolutely love making seamless textures but rarely have a reason to do it

i will add that one day but it won't be any time soon

Colugo Music

Could you add themes to this daw soon? I'd love to see some themes soon! I'm desperate for themes and I'm sure others would love themes :)

rylan

this. While I guess I can technically ignore the time signature, I've always wanted a DAW that would just throw that out the window if I wanted it to.

Emily M

just got the DAW looking at your videos, im so excited, feeling like this could be a real break from 15 years of traditional daws. Thank you for doing this :)

Dan McG

Downloading and will try it out this whole month. Let's goooo Getting bored with ableton

I do have the proper devices selected, because I can record the synth through the mics input (my audio card has 2 mics input and 2 line inputs), but the line input don't appear. Well it doesn't really matter, I was just wondering :)

flyin human B

It might be a bug but I don't think anyone else reported a problem like this yet. Make sure you have your correct audio device selected in the audio settings.

Colugo Music

Hi, just started to explore your DAW, and it's a real pleasure to use. I use a minilogue to record and it's a lot of fun. A (small) thing though, Line input of my sound card aren't recognized, I don't know if i didn't setup things well, or if it is normal?

flyin human B

Hi just joined, i intend to use this with VCV rack (somehow)... acheived with a multi out soundcard..

Mass1nhibited AOE

Looking forward in getting submerged in Blockhead Thank you for sharing your creation

You're Alive But You Are Dead YABYAD

hey there, literally every time I've opened a daw my whole life I've found it silly how you have to have 1 tempo and 1 time signature—it doesn't make sense in my brain. very excited to dig in here, and sending great vibes for you to keep going!

Andrea Dielman

most people report bugs on discord but here is fine too

Colugo Music

Hi, just joined after watching a couple of videos on YouTube. Love the hybrid of daw/sampler/tape music approach) I used to do EVERYTHING in cooledit pro, before it became audition, this feels like I could go back to my roots...as a suggestion, how about adding some spectral editing/manipulation tools? Also, what is the correct procedure for reporting issue? So far I've encountered things like autosave folder setting not being saved, and scrolling with two finger gesture on trackpad not working in file browser pane. I'm on Mac OS. Thanks!

Hey there- new user here. Just wanted to say how much I love this project. Still getting the hang and hope to have constructive feedback as I get my bearings. Great work!

A Kalman

Thank you for the reply! Turns out the crashes and problems was regarding samples containing names with Swedish letters such as ÅÄÖ. Which only happens in some of my own recordings and samplepacks. Thank you for the suggestion. You could try and recreate it when you have the time. :) <3

My wet dream is MIDI hitting Blockhead and has similar tools for manipulation. Also sclaing tools and ARPS with random buttons all over the place.

syncedfashion

Can you let me know what OS you are using and could you check if there are unicode characters anywhere in the file path of the crashing samples? I remember that being an issue but now I can't remember if it was fixed. Otherwise if you send one of the samples to colugomusic@gmail.com i might be able to figure out what's happening

Colugo Music

Hello! Herzken here. Passionate hobbyist Composer/Soundesigner for about 15 years. Played around Blockhead for a while earlier today. Such a promising project! I get the feeling of really "painting" with sound and as someone who dabbles in painting thats really cool. The visual feedback on the waveform is amazing. You are doing great work. Looking forward to seeing where this vision goes. I have a situation where the software crashes if i try to load some samples. Unsure why but i suspect its samplerate related since its with samples that are higer than 48k. But its expected this early. Fantastic and keep it up. <3
