This was an excellent airing of issues! Incorporation of all our emergency services is blighting our communities. I watched it first hand in EMS when they started hot racking medics from one site to another to make them get enough hours to pay their bills. After awhile you don't know or care where you are working and every call becomes a blur. I watched small town cops getting indoctrinated with "only one of us is going home tonight and it's gonna be me" rather than de escalation techniques. Profiling and fear and "it's gonna happen here" thinking was sold to crews as inevitable. And that happened under bush baby. Before that I taught for fema and the focus was completely different, home grown groups of folks you knew in community, Patriots and gun nuts were to be eased back toward reality rather than creating a pissing contest to rile people up. We were trying to actively be communities then. Now we're all trying to just stay alive!
