Yes, and no. Catching a youngling with the potential to become a Guardian with nothing but time and a bit of food is much much easier than hunting for an Awakened beast that fits ALL the requirements of the Blessed's World, AND to push it further and further and further.

2025-09-06 09:38:44 +0000 UTCI second Sobek. As a stand alone seen it looks like an epilogue. But if this is related to future events in book 2 (ex. If the son and his new bond? Are in the special camp, or they take actions that impact the MC or his family/friends...) then it is nice foreshadowing of a new challenge or complication that will be in book 2.
