These are some of the only speakers that I think can compete directly with the Ultra's in volume and sound quality. 103's would be a softer choice but still monsters. Literally can't go wrong with any of them.

How would these compare to the SVS Ultra's? i'm looking to upgrade my old fluance signature's and was deciding between these,the ultra's, and the jamo c-103's if i can find them.

Points taken. Real world is real world. I've recently discovered the benefits of speaker placement, echo test from the back wall. Really cleaned things up.

I think while surfaces and resonance can be a factor. 99% of anyone doing non-scientific measuring of a speaker and just listening in a normal room will not hear anything different between two well damped proper stands. Edge of a table, Think steel that vibrates. Maybe. But any heavy and dense stand on carpet should do well.

As a person just jumping down this rabbit hole your advise from 17:30 going forward is gold. Lots of people with the coin will just go out and buy these and ruin themselves.

This wasn't meant as a criticism, I really enjoy your reviews, more as an observation that reviewers tend to notice changes in the sound quality based on the properties of a stand. The stands can cost a considerable amount of money. I tried your upside down speaker placement. My totem mites tweeters are now at rear level and sound much better

I think my stands are more than appropriate.

Speakers like this one and the LS50 would benefit from using the appropriate stand and associated equipment. That, however, would be very costly.

But how would they sound with a tube amp?

I expect not to hear much different between speakers, when you consider that the GoPro doesn't pick up a lot of the sound and my Surfasce Pro has crappy sound. But I zeroed in on the timbre of percussion. I am pleasantly surprised. Not good audio, but I can detect some pretty subtle differences.

I have the LS50W and I can confirm they're pretty amazing... and it even has certain features like the miniDSP has, that allows you to select the x-over point if you're using a sub and very granularly adjust the sound depending on where the speakers are (on a desk, stands, how close from a wall, etc) - I hope you can review them soon Zeos, I'd love to hear your thoughts about htem
