Z Review - Argon MkIII & Fostex T60rp [Free Share]

Just a Note. $15+ tier Patrons have received a code to bump their orders ahead of the public. I am sorry I couldn't offer it to the $5 tier but Modhouse doesn't want to push public purchases back months. Mid-Fi Finally paying off!

The XLR end you can find on amazon. I haven't really looked for the 4.4mm. There are DIY shops and groups that might know more. OR you can even message a few of the cable makers and ask where they buy them.

ZeosPantera

Zeos..... where can you get the 4.4mm Sony to 4pin xlr converter without the wire linking the 2?

Hi, again. I have received my Argon Mk3 balanced, but Ryan isn't ready to make balanced cables. I think I can get Periapt to custom make one, but wondered if you have any other suggestions at this time.

I mean I own them so I could. But it is usually a comfort thing first and a sound FIXING thing second. So if I don't have an issue I don't roll.

ZeosPantera

Have one critical comment. You never pads rolled with ZMF pads or Alpha pads on the T60. We all know how much the pads affect the sound. Can you re-do?

The 4pin XLR is easy enough to find. The 4 pole female I am using came in a 100 pack https://amzn.to/2K4k1op.. Then its just a matter of getting one of these https://amzn.to/2ylqGpi and soldering it all together and securing it in the XLR cover.

ZeosPantera

Can you link the parts you used for making that adapter? That or sell me one lol

I can make a balanced cable for you

My adapter is unique as far as I know. It would be cool if Periapt or Ursine or even DMS adopted it but there are so few cans that take a 4-pole 3.5mm single input right now.

ZeosPantera

I kept waiting for an ARGON Mk3 review, but just a week before this review, I went ahead and purchased a conversion on myT50RP Mk3. You mentioned a balanced conversion, so I updated my order. Alls good, but I was wondering about a balanced cable. Do you have a recommendation. I'm currently set up for a XLR at the amp...have a Periapt for my HD6XX...so, unless I can find a cable with the correct connectors...or some kind of adapter. Maybe your new adapter is available?

If it was when I was first testing I had pad adapters on and was doing my testing. It was after that I determined the stock pads with no spacers was the best sound.

ZeosPantera

Well the issue is even I don't know what sound differences a certain pad will have on a headphone without a lot of testing.

ZeosPantera

Zeos, please consider making a separate video for the different dekoni earpads. MD often sells various but most of us have no idea which version to buy.

jr

Cool. Argons ordered.

I replied

ZeosPantera

Road bikes are fine. Lots of miles on them little to no problems. Mountain bikes they aren't really fully sussed out yet. They used to do customs and let you pick the wood. Pretty amazing what you can do with wood and a cnc machine.

Yeah going for the open and closed versions of the same cans isn't THAT much of a difference. The argons would be more of a difference.

ZeosPantera

Can you link me to that post. Because I am not banned on head-fi or anything I just don't go there.

ZeosPantera

I mean possibly I revisit. I did so in the Stax 007 review that is on here.

ZeosPantera

FFF Those are nice. Wonder how they hold up near the tires in the back. Super Skinny.

ZeosPantera

It's darker on the highs but has more slam with the bass. It's not that the AP bass is bad it's just more apparent on the Argon and great with Electronic Dance Music. Put it this way my Alpha Primes are in the case and I am using the Argon all weekend. They are two different headphones for sure. I do think the AP is amazing too and just bought a new ofc cable for it.

Hey Omegaorgun, I will follow your link to your head-fi.org thread. However, can you share a quick sentence or two comparing Alpha Primes and the Argon? I have the Alpha Primes too and often go there from the closed Aeons as I seem to like the warmer tonality than I expected I would. Now wondering if Aeon opens or the Argon Mk3 might offer something I like even better. . .ok, I am off to your thread.

Also show some love for Argon if you have one on Head-Fi. I have a thread there, so comment or post pics if you can. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/modhouse-audio-argon-t50rp-mk2-3.875899/I love my Alpha Primes but the Argon has been on my head all weekend, Love it!

Ok Zeos, I was already struggling between Aeon Flow Open of LCD2 C as looking for a warmer, open stablemate for my Aeon Flow Closed. Now, I am thinking about making a value play for Argon Mk3 to enjoy the wider sound stage and warmth and save a few bucks vs the others as something else will surely be coming down the road and nice to be on my way to "saving" for them. Thoughts?

LMAO at the end! Hahahahahaha! Love the GoPro head too. Now that's entertainment.

The ending was awesome.

That was great!
