Ethan's War Hammer (CAD Drawing)

Yes, this is the dragon-steel version, though the shaft should have some Celtic-looking runes/designs on it.  However, my CAD skills aren't nearly up to the task of creating them.

Fantasy stories often get war hammers wrong by making metal ones much too large.  Think of a typical (large) fantasy war hammer and compare it to a sledgehammer or maul, and you'll get an idea of what those oversized ones would be like to actually wield.

By contrast, Ethan's war hammer is very in line with medieval war hammers in general -- in both size and weight -- and that was on purpose.  There's a reason I described it as being like a "large framing hammer" several times in the early chapters.  Think about how much damage a framing hammer can do with a hard swing, and you'll realize why they don't need to be very big or heavy.  That's why medieval war hammers weren't much heavier than a heavy framing hammer.

Like a typical medieval version, Ethan's war hammer is heavier than most framing hammers at 2.4 pounds total weight (38.4oz,  ~1090 grams).  Most of that weight is in the head, and I'm sure you can imagine the kind of damage he can do with it...  and through armor taboot.

Overall height is 20 inches (~51cm)

The slight protrusion on the hammer face is so it will tend to 'bite' into armor as opposed to just glancing off.

The spike at the back would be devastating, but can get stuck in the target, which is why it was used less than the hammer end.  It was often used for hooking actions to control your opponent more than striking, but it's a wonderful option to have should you need to punch a hole in something.
