A Question

Hey Family!

It's no secret we've been struggling the last two years. When we started the comic we simply wanted to have a fun family comic that just happened to have gay parents in it. Over the years we've had so much fun with it, but then real life began interfering. We had to make choices to talk about more serious topics or ignore them for the sake of keeping the comic an "escape." While I'm a big fan of the escapism aspect, I also felt ignoring the hard parts of life to keep things simple wasn't being faithful to a "slice of life" comic.

For the last year things have been very trying and stressful. Money, health, even stability. We're doing our best to keep ourselves on the right path to self improvement and anyone out there doing the same knows every day is as much an internal struggle as it is external.

I want to thank you to everyone who's here right now supporting us. A way I can express that better is to engage with you directly. So often I feel I'm bothering people if I don't resolve everything myself and sometimes that's just not the right approach.

So I ask you this; do you prefer our comic to be more of an escape from reality? Deal with real world problems? A mix of both? I'm asking this now because these days are especially trying for so many and I'm constantly torn between wanting to tackle issues I see or creating nice escapes to just feel better. We're capable of doing both so we'd really love to hear from you.

There are no wrong answers here. Please feel free to share your honest opinion and I think it'll make us a better comic for it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for continuing to support our work. It means so much to us! We hope you're doing well out there! Biggest Hug!

I love the mix!

Like a lot of people here, I think a mix of the two is best. It's good to some escapist fun but real life can intrude and ignoring those issues won't make them go away. It can help the readers to see the characters we love dealing with these things sometimes.
