2024-12-19 22:38:05 +0000 UTCI have a fucked fact about the RMS Titanic (and that little indie film about it): Quick recap: In the film Titanic, Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) first encounters Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) as she is about to jump off the back of the ship. In attempt to persuade her back onto the deck, Jack tells Rose a story about a time he was ice fishing on Lake Wissota in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Known fact: The Titanic sank on April 15th, 1912 Fucked fact: Lake Wissota is a man-made reservoir created by the Wissota Hydroelectric Dam on the Chippewa River. However, the construction of the dam wasn't completed until 1917, more than five years after the sinking of the RMS Titanic. Of all the historically accurate details put into the design of the ship, the clothes, the mechanics, you'd think the screenwriters would've caught this little story?
