Added 2020-04-16 11:45:26 +0000 UTCSo, The DUNE discourse is happening now, and I've been playing around possibly starting a little series of character drawings from the book. Obviously, Nausicaä won in this twitter poll, but right now I really could use some practice in character designs for my 2020 plans rather than masturbatory redrawing of things I like rendered with the methods I love (got too rusty since 2017 when we designed the entire character roaster for 7 Deadly Sins).
And sooner or later, I'll do Nausicaä , anyway!
Long story short - let's go! Here are some rough sketches for House Atreides uniform. I'm not a military fetishist, and this series still will probably be way more about how I render and shape things rather than precise design chomps and character sheets, but still, this is a very fun exercise!
Let me know what you guys think, and I'll get back to more commissions in the meantime.

I'm pretty sure that there's gonna be A LOT of spite-drawing of Dune stuff in the next few months! Our community will have a blast with it.

Seriously tho, It’s just ostentatious enough for a house like Atreides and the little knives set up a kind of thematic irony in that, had House Atreides kept their knives a little closer maybe they wouldn’t have gotten fucked over so hard. Also, for whatever it’s worth, I voted for Nausicaa in the twitter poll too and then immediately kicked myself for not picking Dune. Nausicaa already has a robust visual design while Dune has a lot more potential for experimentation. Don’t feel bad for ignoring the poll, I guess is what I’m trying to say.
