Here's a couple of pages from a quick short comic I got involved in back in May, when I was absolutely sure that by August I won't have any spare time for stuff like this. Long story short, I'm finishing it now, hahaha.
As you can see, this comic is done on the smaller paper (A4) and laid out in my beloved (probably unreasonably so) 6 panels grip. What you can't see is that it's also done with a ballpoint pen, which would probably sound like a nightmare to some of you. But I enjoy it - it is smooth and actually SOFT to draw with, and most importantly, it's as far from a nib as you could get.
I honestly can't stick to one set of instruments for too long - after half of a yer with a calligraphy pen and then an entire year of Japanese nibs on my previous Western book I was devastated, destroyed, discouraged (the three Ds you really need to fuck up your resting process, really!)
By the end of the book I started sneaking in a simple liner pen or a marker here and there just not to feel sick with my dull process of doing the same thing. And in the 1,5 years I didn't get THAT good with nibs, either - just the same decent set of skills I had by the end of second month.
Will I ever be able to draw more than 6 issues of the same book and not kill myself in the process? I wonder!
