2026-01-10 12:38:17 +0000 UTCIt's crazy because when you hear some of the things that come out of these people's mouths like the plastic surgeon for example, you kind of don't want to believe it's real because it's so egregious. After we watched it and looked up what was real, I saw an article that came out shortly after the Pence rally with a photo of Cohen dressed up as Trump and it did actually ring a bell when I saw that. That's so scary that they rushed the stage to attack him!

2026-01-05 06:48:02 +0000 UTCI can confirm that everything in this was real, and you did most likely hear about parts of it in the news at the time, like when he went to the Pence rally. I think you actually mentioned hearing about that when you watched the first Borat. The only fake characters were Borat and Tutar in this, they tell people all sorts of things to get them to appear. But the things the people say are fully real responses to Borat and Tutar's improv. Rudy Giuliani was very much not in on it, that really happened and it was all over the news at the time. Part of how they got away with this was using a relatively unknown actress for Tutar instead of Borat in many scenes to avoid being recognized, and disguising Borat most of the time. (Also the rally where he sung the song did really happen and those were the crowd's real responses, near the end of his time on stage he was actually recognized, and the crowd rushed the stage to attack him, he had to hide in the back of an ambulance to get away) Also, the first Borat movie was also very political for its time, but since you watched it in 2025 the politics didn't hit in quite the same way.
