Site Update v1.4.0 - Badges I & 18 Years!

Hello again, backloggers!

There's been a lot going on! I'll try to run down things quickly here.

• Backloggery's 18th Anniversary is tomorrow, Aug 14! Try4ce, Lyndis, and I will be celebrating with a marathon stream this Saturday, Aug 16 starting at 1PM ET. The return of the Backlog Bash gameshow will also happen that day at 7PM ET! I hope to see you there!

• Badges! I've been working overtime to get them ready in time for the site anniversary and they're finally here. But there's still more to come. This update will bring roughly half of the currently planned badges to the site. There's just a bit more work to do on the remainder, but hopefully they'll follow soon. To get your badges, just update any game on your profile.

• Options to disable badges are still planned! They'll be part of the next badge update.

• Site Emotes had some display issues. And even after fixing those, I wasn't terribly happy with how legible they were, so I've embiggened them. The main issue in my mind is now the mish-mash of HD and pixel art is even more apparent. Is this the final straw that makes me pixelize the site? Maybe. I still get a steady drip of requests for that. Let me know what you think.

• Spam bots have found the site and are generally being a pain in my ass. I've taken a few steps to help stem the tide but there's a lot more to do still. If you encounter one, please report them through the contact form. (A report user button is one of several things on my todo list).

Features

• Badges are back! Think of them like temporary achievements that come and go depending on the state of your backlog. Update a game to get yours (anything should do it) and click the badges on your profile for a full list and their requirements.

• When you earn or lose a badge, you'll now be alerted of the change via a "toast" at the bottom of the screen.

• Added badges to site emotes.

Improvements

• Toast alerts now can be queued up and displayed one after another, most easily seen if you gain/lose multiple badges with a single update.

• Added a reminder of how to add platforms to your profile within the platform dropdown.

It's been drizzling here every day for like two months straight and I'm slowly losing my mind. 🙃
