Dude, shut the fuck up. This game has always been totally free. AAA studios have literally hundreds of team members. DK has a couple of guys. There has never been a paywall for game content, any monetary support they've gotten has been from people wanting to show support for a free product. Still nothing is provided, we've waited literal years, and instead of giving the people, some of which you have received literal hundreds of dollars from, content they can partake in, you instead decide to pick a focus group to playtest what you have put together, something we have been waiting literal years for. The problem is, someone is being lazy. DC says to keep an eye on the progress bar this month, I expected 10%, at least 5, we got fucking one or two. Imo stop supporting until they put this update out, there really isn't all that much to this game and the amount of time its taking for them to do what they claim they are trying to is absurd.

You can't split a code remake into small updates. You do know all he's doing is to pass time while the posers/coder do their part ? Would you prefer he did nothing for ~2 years and not have all the bonus scenes/backgrounds instead ? You also do know that most of the update's art was done in the 1st year or so and everything since then is add-ons to stuff the rest of the team tags as needing touch-ups/more angles/different timeslots/etc ? "Commitment to Patrons" : He streams daily and replies to most of the junk people ask him. That's commitment. He also doesn't owe any1 (paying or not) anything outside the pledge tier rewards. As with every other dude that can't stand reality : stop pledging and move on. Nothing will happen with or without you and no1 will care either way. People have been moaning the same thing for years, what did it do ? Jacksquat nothing.

You got ~10k parts of images (probably more) to load at once at the start so the game doesn't choke up every time you get to a new scene. Get unren and decrypt the archive. Now imagine the game having to load all that crap at once.

All things considered I feel like the wait isn't really all that bad. I mean lets be honest I have only been doing the 1$ sub off and on as budget allows for about 2 yrs or so (maybe less) so at most I have spent between $20 or $25 for a game I and my wife play with the express purpose of "manual physical self-gratification" . I spent about the same on Robocop: Rouge City and while I love the game (Huge Robocop fan) I didn't get NEARLY as much content and satisfaction as I do from summertime saga. I'd say I got my money's worth on both for different reasons, but any game you can keep coming back to multiple times a year for less than $30 and still get the same enjoyment from the experience isn't a bad deal from my perspective. Additionally, I have the option to stop paying whenever I choose so if it ever becomes a "bad value" in my eyes I will have no one to blame but my self for continuing to pay. Everything in life is a choice, it's simply a matter of whether or not we accept the results of the choice we made.

It was updated almost monthly in the beginning, if you do not remember that, then you were not here from the start. As far as whom he is pissing off, that would be those that stuck around for years. Obviously not you. But alas he does keep getting more and more supporters. That is merely because it is a great game, that has never been the issue. The Issue is instead of wasting time on backgrounds and BS superficial garbage, the efforts and concentration should be upon the update. The inattentions to this is an obvious showing of his lack of commitment to his patreons. Perhaps this update should have been broken down into a few smaller updates. But we all keep paying the subscriptions for literally nothing.

Not really. You don't pay a dev so he makes what you want, you donate to a dev to say "good job, keep doing what you want/like". Dev then doesn't owe you anything, outside the tier perks. Which doesn't include the game (even if it wasn't free to begin with). 99%+ of people don't understand that from Patreon, therefore every1 and their mom keep crying about "he makes too much $/he should hire 50 dudes and complete the game yesterday/etc" Patreon isn't there for you, it's there for the devs (mostly randoms who don't make games) that need $ to keep doing their art. That DC makes more per month than most people do in a year doesn't mean he needs to bend over backwards and triple his output just so people stop whining. You got a problem with any of that ? Again. I donated 1 Buck to see if I missed anything. And that's absolutely fine. I should give him a little more in fact. DC offers his work (so far) for free on his website. No shame in spending a little for done work. But that's where the problem lies though. Barely getting any work done, but receiving funds a professional could only dream of is just something that irks me in general. And it's definitely a bad thing that people have been complaining for 3 years and no changes to the workflow were made. That's just showing no regard for the community and his patrons.

Summertime has been #1 adult project for more than 5 years on Patreon, it won't die out anytime soon. Subs go up and down monthly. They did plummet more earlier in the tech update's "life" when people just knee-jerk reacted to DC taking more time than anticipated. It then went back up when the monthly "recaps" started showing up. As for other games dying cause devs went 180 to re-do everything : probably not on this scale. Most devs do it incrementally (mostly per-update) since they don't have ~5 years of junk to wade through when their game is only 2-3 builds deep ....

The only new stuff you'll get is a wider screen with new buildings on the town map, some interior locations and a few new girls in them with no scenes (or very little, and no lewds). It's been "set in stone" for the last 3 years, no surprises coming. You might feel surprised by (most of) the wallpapers DC made since then being reformatted into intro scenes for the girls to replace the junk (or empty void) we got currently. But still no new lewd scenes. Tech update is what it's called : a code remake and 16:9 screen size rework. Nothing more.

What if the real reason for the whole lack of comunication and tremendous amount of time this tech update takes is, because we will get a big surprise at the release with tons of reworked and new content to make up for this gigantic annoyance. Wouldn't that be nice? At least it would make sense to add something new to the release because a simple release after nearly 3 years without fresh content might be a little flop. At the end of the day everything is a cost-benefit ratio. If sb takes this into consideration it would have been much more beneficial to start over with a new game rather than to rehash seen content over 3 years.

Everything will stay the same ....... Not like it's been said time and again for the last 3 years that this is a recode and a 16:9 screen size update. Per DC: "Both update choice will take roughly the same amount of time (3 to 4 months) to complete." The poll took place on December 3rd, 2020, and the results were announced on December 15th, 2020. If you want to say that he started in March, then I'll simply amend my above statement to: "All the simps gotta feel real silly that the update started two years and nine months ago, and it's still not complete." There's been 5+ dudes on the coding job since the game launched 7 years ago (including DC). Some of them (aka DC) blew some major ass. The end result of all that is the game we have now : a complete mess that barely works. Solution to that is what they're doing with the tech build : get 1 dude to burn everything down and redo it alone, so at least his coding will be compatible with itself and not be a mish-mash of 5+ dudes with variable coding prowess

I might be able to help explain from what I know. When you build a framework or engine, or any kind of scripting, you have to have something to build to test the framework. From there you usually start building versions around Alpha to Beta. Once your beta testing you really get into where you can actually see if something is working or how difficult to get it to work can be. By that I mean, you have to kind of patch things together to have a build able program. From there you might explore the roadmap of the game and decided Patch A and Patch B will not support transfering Objects or Variables because they are supposed to be compatible, but for whatever reason they just arent. rather that be a coding mistake or VERY often poor documentation on the external objects/script/control. etc. From there you are stuck, so you start planning how to spin off a newer build of the framework. The assets are made, but the framework just wont behave. TLDR is more than likely unfixable framework issues or deprecated code.

I love playing the game! I just have to wonder, why keep going back and redoing what's already there? This is the third game I've enjoyed that the creator has gone back and redone parts or the whole thing even. I like a game where once I play through it it keeps adding to itself. Nothing. They release the game updates on "private" servers for Patrons a few hours before dumping it on "public" links afterwards. You pay to have access to those and get the game a little faster. The tier reward also states "private servers", pretty self-explanatory

What scope ? They were always remaking the entire game from the ground up since day 1. They aren't doing anything more than that. You should space your Patreon wallpaper drops and your monthly updates away from each other. like one, the end of the month and the other in the middle of the month instead of a day to a week apart all at the end of each month, allows for a more active release to engagement cycle, instead of a dry spell for about 3 to 4 weeks. Hi Dark Cookie, I normally don't comment on tech updates status updates but being the new year I hope you'll take it into consideration. I think once this update is done, you and the team really need to develop a lessons learnt report about the current pitfalls of this update. The tech update started back in March of 2021, now 32 months ago. Although patreons were provided small updates every month, this stopped in November 2022 to focus more on the work required in the tech update. Over a year later and we still haven't seen this update come out, and it seems to me this has been the result of scope creep. Looking at the way back machine, the number of tasks from March 2021 to November 2022 increased by almost 400, and since then we've seen another 54 tasks tacked on to the progress. This kind of scope creep is what can lead to the death of a project, and with patreons waiting eagerly (myself included), it can seem like it's never coming out and forever stuck in limbo. I only hope next update following has a much stronger scope defined and you continue to provide the content we all seek.

It's not just a feeling, you'll have to replay the entire game. Your old save probably won't even load after they remade the entire codebase. Even if it did, you'll be seeing a traceback error for every line of code they changed between versions
