He isn't getting paid per update but per month. I am ok with what I am paying. Also don't forget thst he doesn't see 100% of every dollar. I think it's more like .75 cents on the dollar. Or even less. So thst cuts the 77k a month to more like.. 55k. Month. Fair to say he is paying out 10k a month for a lead dev, then another 8k a month for an artist. Probably another 10k a month for an overseas software development team to stitch it all together. Probably bringing home around 27k a month. Claiming another 10k a month for business resources end result I'm guessing 17k a month in equivalent take home.. then he's paying a g a month for his medical and dental if he's lucky. Don't forget social security, state and federal taxes.. and so on. Net is probably a lot closer to 100k a year I bet.

Not exactly, based on the amount of developers and content creators he has assisting him, as well as software they use to design and develop everything you are looking at way more than just 20k a month for this games development... Especially if the team he has with him have degrees in graphics design or computer engineering, over all even if He lands a a team of developers all withing the 25th percentile of highest degreed developers that's an average of $6250 a month, per developer... Game development is a pretty high stakes job market at the moment... So for him to keep his team of developers happy and within his team he has to meet their pay grade requirements based upon the contracts they signed and agreed upon when they joined his team. If he can't pay them according to what their work is worth then he has a high risk if losing the developer to another creator or company seeking creators that give off a higher salary per month than he does... Remember when he talked about losing a developer ( one person) and the whole process halted for 3 weeks as the searched for a replacement, he ended up employing two people to replace that one developer... So I highly doubt he spends 20k alone on on both the software used, people employed and whatever else expenses are required for the development of the game... And let's just say he did for a moment... If he earned 70k a month... Used 20k on the game... And profited 50k a month... Over the past 5 months he has earned 250k in profits alone... Don't you think someone earning that would be more motivated to push for updates sooner than what we've been seeing... Especially if it's such a high paying career... Higher than the actual top earners monthly salary of $12,750 a month... So if he is profiting over 50k a month he is seriously up there on the developers list... I mean Annually top earners or the highest paid developers out there only earn around 150k a year... But he's profiting around 600k a year if he profits 50k a month...

Just want to point out the obvious here... I've been keeping track of his donations per month or whatever you want to call it, and day by day it averages between $68,000 and $71,000... Which means he both loses and gains supporters every week.... So for the few people I've seen down here in the comments going on about ending their support unless he releases the update by a given date or within a given amount of time... You do realize you are donating of your own free will... No one is compelling you to do so... There is literally no point is setting a time period for their update unless you are a key contributed to the content or development of the game itself... Game development runs into more issues during the final stages of an update, than it does anywhere else in it's development... If you haven't noticed the "bugs" increased from 7 to whatever it is now... And if you haven't been paying attention to the world itself... It should be pretty obvious to why development might be slow... Just saying... I don't want to cause any drama or anything but... it just ticks me off a little...

Not whining, just pointing out that is useless and futile to complain at this point, DC isn't paying attention and those that are just keep saying, "stop whining". Besides March is the last month i am contributing until regular progress continues. Especially being that with this new "Tech" update all the art, every single piece, has to be edited and added onto for the widescreen format. Every single piece. So unless they release that update in stages it will most likely take close to a year for the following update after this. If progress gets back to how it was a few years ago ill come back and support it. Its a great game and i love it and i really would like to see it done.

You're missing the point of patreon. You're not paying for anything. The game is free. You don't have to be on patreon to play the game - again, the game is completely free to anyone. Patreon gives you the option to donate money to the developers if you like to, it's donations, you're not paying for anything. Just stop donating if you're fed up with donating, you'll still get exactly the same game at exactly the same price which is nothing.

It’s because patreon generates 70.000 dollars for them. So if you write “you can support me on patreon so i can improve quality” supporters expect improvements. But it’s the same, it takes more than a year to push out an update... the last update had 4 or maybe 5 scenes. For an example NLT makes an update EVERY TIME in 15 days with NO delays and each of them has a total of 4 scenes (which are 3d animated, the quality is not even comparable) and other stuff. But it’s not about the game, both games are great. We just want some transparency, updates and honesty. This update was “teased” 4 times in the last half year, and i quote “it’s coming really really soon”.... that was in November last year.😅 this guy streams few days a week, at night (it might be because different time zones) but it’s only 1.5-3 hours. So this is the best paying part time job. I am nit saying he should quit he’s job, i wouldn’t... but the VERY LEAST he should offer is transparency and honesty.... and teasing releases and pushing dates back further and further is not what i call honest. I can’t judge because i have no artistic skills, meaning I can’t draw, but if he really spends that much time drawing than not everything would be reused almost everywhere. Seriously look at it, 10-15 scenes make up the whole game in conversation with blurred backgrounds. But that’s not a problem for me, it’s a quality game. But he should be honest about it. And if the updates take this long, at least it could me “meaningful”, and not 4 scenes, 2 if which are extremely short. Ps: btw I don’t know how long you have been supporting but the quality and content of the scenes have dropped. Just look at how a “side character” have a whole storyline and different scenes in defferent places, with other options. And how (on the last update) melonia has 1 static scene with 4 pictures repeating🔁 iwanka has 2 options, and thats about it. A game that makes 70.000 a month should improve not decline. The only improvement i am seeing is the new map in the tech update (the map), and we are supposed to get 6 scenes with different characters of i recall. I am sure it will be a great update when it releases in 2021 November... at best.

Also with that kind of money I would love to see some more music and sound effects added to the game. (Mabey even voice?) Hey if HuniePop can do it, so can you. With the money he is being given i agree that his progress is quite slow. I get that hes doing the art work from scratch but being that he getting 700k a year either he needs to work more hours like this is his job or hire more people to work at it like its their job. if i dont see an update in the next week or so i am pulling my support. I encourage others to do so or at least drop down to $1. DC needs to realize that when you are making this type of money you need to be held accountable and should be transparent on what you are spending all this money on for supper slow progress. This isnt about waiting for fap material, this is about simple business. At nearly 70k a month in revenue your making small corporate level money and should be acting accordingly. yep... getting a bit disappointing... considering NLT's Treasure of Nadia - updates every two weeks, the renders are not cartoons but realistic beyond... even NLT's Lust Epidemic (one of the earlier games - was pretty good too and updated regularly). Sorry about DarkCookie's illnesses etc... but as been said for $70K+/month... seems a bit unrealistic... to not expect anything... I'll stay on for a bit more... seems 20.8 is close... but we'll see. All the VERY BEST!

Long dark was about 5 years (roughly) for complete development. This game has been in development for that long at least that long and its not even halfway done. He's had the money for ages to hire more people, artists, programmers, ect. They'd be making most likely over 110k a month if there was a better regular update. He actually used to BE faster. While i've moved to minimal, i've been a patreon for years to see the changes. Its money, not creative delays.

you can download the full current version for free from the summertime saga website. no strings attached. (DC is cool). if you are a patron, you get downloading privileges through a faster connection hours before non-paying followers get to download. make sure to pick the version suited to your operating system. load it up and have fun! good luck

I would love if there was a new event with eve, where you have to have the beach house, had to have gotten her pregnant one (with regular eve) or had intercorse a few times (with other version of eve) and discovered the forest area. This event you ask her to go for a walk or picnic at night and you take her to the woods and spend time by the river, then it starts raining and instead of leaving you dance, or have fun (not sex) in the rain. Then you decide to go to his beach house and you start making out at the door, then make out while going upstairs and while still soaking wet you have sex on his bed and you 2 are finnaly able to sleep together overnight, and she decides to stay at your place from now on

Just imagine the road that leads up and the roads that exit on the main map could end up been able to traverse to other locations however that would mean a DLC or just too much work to even fathom. However there is so much in this little town for 1 guy... With that much knowledge he could almost conquer the world...

Word. I'm about to be all over this town. I still think a great idea would be the ability to change the MC's appearance, again, current in-game assets(skin tone, faces, clothing, etc) would be fine. Also, Sister Anjelica...I want her and pregnancies for Roxxy, Crystal, Becca, Martinez, Judith, Beth and Debbie.
