So, I get the frustration guys. I really do, because I have been there, and to be honest still kind of am. I was a patron of DC's up until recently. This update's long wait time was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I have heard the arguments defending these long updates, and honestly, I just stopped buying into it. The only way to change this is to stop supporting this creator. Even then, it still might be too late. Because despite Patreon's cut, cost of development of this game, and paying his other website fees, DC is still pocketing away a good chunk of money every month. And if he invested it wisely, he is set for life. Anyways, this will probably be my last post about this game, because once I stopped my support, I started giving less of a shit about this game. My advice for those not paying is to go play something else. There are sooo many other amazing games out there with just as much or more content in them. This is definitely not the only one. Then follow this game, like I am, so when a new version of the game comes out, then you can check it out. But until that new version comes out, try to forget about it. At least that is what I am going to do. That way if it takes DC a full year or longer to come out with a new version, I won't get all worked up about it, because I will be focused on other amazing games and their development. For those supporting him and not happy about these long waits between updates? I suggest pulling your support, he obviously does not listen to you and your complaints. Believe me, I have tried, and never once got a response on here or Discord. These were DM's and constructive, not frothing at the mouth rants, but still nothing. I get putting out a less buggy version will take time but maybe if it's taking this long you should devote more resources to coders. Patreon should have a policy that restricts both the creator and supporters. Especially creators to make it more transparent,like the time table between deadlines should be meet before releasing the money. Not like this that it takes 4-5 months of updates and only 1-2 added H-scene only and to make it even worse DC is not even replying to his supporters that financially supported this game,it's like this ''Hey DC! we give you the money to support you can we have some quality updates and give us an update of the progress like every 2-3 days'' But sadly NO it does'nt work this way. More like ''Hey supporters give me all your money so i can have an easy life''. Please be generous to your patrons DC take time to reply on their positive and negative comments. The reason why the progress is so slow, actually slower than when DC was alone, is probably because he's still alone. 4 of his Goals are for one or more guys. After 30k / month he stopped making other Goals. It's obvious that more money is not what this project needs. It's actually the opposite. I like this game, I don't even care about finishing the game if there is a story to tell, content to add. But this is ridiculous. He's got almost $1000000 so far for development a little game. He should either change the payment method or hire the team he's promised.

Whatever the explanation you guys give, i am not convinced. I am a software professional. And from my experience I can tell you, when we see abrupt rise in bug like this, we feel red flag, there is a flaw in testing.

I have issues with this project, but honestly I doubt what you say is what's happening here. They're using renpy, and a heavily modified renpy at that, bugs can pop up for any number of reasons. I think it's only natural the bug counter will rise significantly, finding bugs they missed before, creating new bugs while fixing bugs and making changes. The number is sure to add up.

I will explain to you guys how game testing looks like by QA tester. A man plays a game. He finds a bug. He puts that in an appropriate google sheet with its concise summary, steps on how to reproduce it and its type. Coder sees that, he goes to fix the bug and marks it in the sheet as Fixed/Ready to check. Then following day game tester first thing in the morning goes to check whether the bug has been fixed. If it wasn't, he goes to the sheet it and marks it as Not fixed. Therefore it's obvious that most of the bugs that "pop up" in this are reopen bugs that they've been trying to fix for some time now. It's normal in QA testing. This is also why we receive an influx of bugs every morning(or late afternoon for US) - because they go to the sheet to report the bugs that haven't been fixed yet. Do you really think that there would be so many bugs in visual novel? There aren't any new minigames coming, come on guys lol, it's just going in circles :P Of course there could be bugs like "misplaced image" or "typo" but these bugs can be fixed in 1 minute. Very funny right Well it is also known that coder is freelancer IT dropout so perhaps he has problems with coding text and putting images together...

Plus as mentioned in the post we are getting a 0.18.5 which means this update isn't going to have all Jenny content that was planned for the update the last bit of ''content'' we got was LAST YEAR! and that was only one tiny update with about 45min to an hour of content. I can only speculate the reason he's encountering so many bugs and code errors is because he is incorporating 18.5 H scenes which may include Jenny and Roxy, Jenny and Debbie, Jenny and Diane and or a variety of different combinations of those 4 different characters in their H scenes together in one place or several. Also apparently there are new "complex animations" that are being incorporated into these H scenes but I understand how everyone feels; That ALMOST DONE POST WAS 12 DAYS AGO!!!! hopefully this update releases this week!

I was able to completely develop a private server for multiple games that were all successful bringing in an immense amount of money for the ones i was contracted under in a matter of around a month or two and I am talking about from a base revision of the game with no content to a full release and a 2d click action game cant even update properly with 6 months time.

I stopped supporting this project after being disappointed with the Eric story line. As an observer, I do find it amusing that every few weeks when I check on any progress for an update, I see 20+ complaints sandwiched between one compliment and of course 30 spams from Mr. Spoiler Art. Still the monthly income keeps going up and up. Of all the projects I have followed and/or supported in the past, this one by far has the worst complaint/compliment ratio I have seen and yet receives tenfold the amount of money compared to others. I really like that game but will not become a patreon. First: The update cycle is too long. Second: The new content is not enough. As I said in an earlier post it usually is in one branch only so the rest of the story bears nothing new. Small upgrades (e.g. date with one of the girls with maybe a kiss at the end) would be nice and leave the other branches interesting, as there would always be something new to discover in every update.

I agree that the game is probably becoming more complicated to make at this point, but if you are serious and have a sense of urgency- you hire more or better talent. You guys are getting FREE content. If you're supporting, great, but it's optional. I've been following this game as a non-paying Patreon since DC had 5,000+ patreons and even then Summertime Saga had issues when it came to development but on a minimal scale compared to how bad it's gotten. Look DC you are one smart/talented individual so if you truly wanted to complete this game you could very well easily manage yourself along with the "employee's" you've hired to pick up the pace and get these updates out faster than it has been. "We" asked for longer updates yes but it just feels like it's dragging along at this point and that this update should've been out about 1/2 months ago when it has been basically 6 months since the last release and honestly I just want to live to see V1.0 be released, that was a small jab, soz. In reality I guess I along with many others (who are directly supporting your livelihood) would like to know where the patreon funds are being allocated to and more of a response on your part DC about as to what's taking sooo long, even if I'm not a patreon myself doesn't mean my opinion is invalid it's just this game has so much potential and it seems the money has blinded the passion that this game once contained.

I know it takes time to create art,animations and bug testings etc. but it's more like getting easy money with the support DC is getting. Exactly, this isn't a AAA game, it is a Ren'py game. An update should not take six months, especially with the amount of revenue this game is making monthly. I say six months, because 0.17.5 is not really an update, it's more like DLC for 0.17, therefore I am not counting it. I mean I love this game when content does come out, but 6 months is absolutely ridiculous. It would be different if this game was making little to no money, but with raking in nearly $600,000 a year (~$50,000/month for12 months), 6 months is ridiculous for Ren'py game update. Yes, I said around $600,000 a year. Let that sink in for those who give $20 or more a month to this project. I am surprised you all haven't been more vocal about this. I mean, I was only giving $1 a month and am pissed about it. Also, who here makes even close to that much in a year? I am just saying, think about whether donating to this project is really worth it. As said before, there are Indie developers who make complete games with less money than that using far more complex programs than anything this game has to work with. I get what you're trying to say here, but ultimately, it's your choice to provide money in the first place. I love summertime saga, and gave for about a year's worth of a dollar a month. Then, the game got really big, and I decided I didn't NEED to provide money anymore, and withdrew, still a fan of the game. Take your dollar away sure, but you'll only just end up playing the game anyway. As you said, it's not much of a dent that matters. No matter WHAT people say, the amount of money Kompass studios receives does not increase the rate he can make the amount of content he chooses to make now, in the way he does. Exponential money growth does not equal exponential speed. I would agree though that I wish DC just decided to release smaller content amounts, but that's me, and he'd be a fool to change anything. Business for Kompass has only gone up more and more.

So, I know this game is free and all, but I was supporting for $1 a month. I just stopped that support to be one of the few to make a stand against these incredibly long updates. I know $1 is nothing compared to the current $53,000+ people are pledging, but I just can't bear giving one more cent to this project. I get that this game is big and all, but I feel like there are games on here that are just as big who produce content and updates at a much more reliable rate. I do still enjoy this game, admittedly far less without the incest content, but DC either needs to change his payment method to per release or major update or pause charging people until the update comes out. I find it very hard to believe this game costs even a third of what he makes a month. Also, doing the pauses or per update method DC won't be worried about deadlines. This is all providing that he is not just laughing all the way to the bank and intentionally taking his sweet ass time with these updates as the money rolls in. Regardless of what is actually happening, I am making a stand against the slow production of this game. I really do hope others will follow.

Nope, as long as he redoes most of the early game each build, it'll take a long while and throw out lots of bugs. 1 solution was to get the save comp build out fast (nobody voted for it twice), another would be to pass an entire numbered update (like 0.21 or 0.22) doing only engine/bug fixes to have the most stable build we could have, but that would mean about 6 months of nothing and a build with no tits

As a developer myself, i would say that they should make smaller releases. The bigger the release, they more they hold off testing and the more bugs are going to surface. Constantly writing, compiling and testing the code is what makes any software development stable. And for that, small releases help a long way.

I really hope this update restored my faith in v this project. So far I have not complained about the length of time and content until after the Diane update. It really let me down! After 4 months, only 1 extra H-scene added (3some with Debbie)... He took the shed H-scene out and was replaced by the barn scene...To make matters worse, the whole update was poorly developed and written. A thing or two bout this type of game; - it's a mashup of release updates one-by-one with reliance of mini-games and individual story arcs. - each update on a character is an overhaul of the entirety of the game story. sometimes I wonder with 5 months of development, at least it's a double update; it's a high risk of bugs but it meets with a 'deadline'. if the updates keep going on on a single update, by the time of release 1.0 (if there's one), it'll be in the next 5-7 years or more.

I love the game. There is nothing compared to it in both quality, detail, artwork, and originality. The anticipation for each update is insane and I do understand the amount of time it takes to produce a game of this caliber. With that said, it shouldn't take 4 months for 1 character update. I could understand if this was a 3D open world game, but it's an advanced 2D graphic novel. If animators and coders are needed, reach out to the gaming community and hire talent. I know there is no incentive to complete the game due to the patron format, so advertise as a steam release and get off this platform. People love the game DC and thats a compliment to your talent. I donate 10 dollars monthly, because this game is the best and I want to see it completed.

What they should do is skip the poll for 0.21, get Erik's route done so we get save comp and/or either do the entire update fixing as much stuff as they can or do that in 0.22 (no smut or anything else). That way, we might have a stable and bug-free-ish game for many updates to come, instead of hoping the 1st build is good and the 0.5 coming a month after isn't stuffed with fixes that don't really help

The bugs/issues counter is going up, as expected. They always have to correct many bugs at the end of an update, it's natural. So be patient. I presume the proliferation of bugs and issues is also due to the game becoming bigger and more complex update after update... I wonder if it would be better to split the game into some mini-games or chapters, rather than making a single mastodontic game... But I'm not an expert - actually, I know nothing.

Would it be possible to develop a save file translator? So before playing, the installer would run this little program, it would read the save files and translate them into the new format for the new version. With the caveat, some events may be lost. For example, maybe Eve's story is so different her karaoke singing is removed, this would by necessity, invalidate everything that comes after in the DeWitt story arc. So all of that would have to be reset. Just a thought.

Biggest update yet, does that mean it may end up taking even longer than the current update? Summertime Saga is easily one of my favorite ero games, but I'm still concerned with how long updates are taking for the money it's raking in, I hope those additional animators help trim down development time a good bit. I want to believe the money isn't being wasted, but I've seen plenty of times it's easy for developers to not know how to handle large amounts of money when it starts piling in, and stuff ends up being mismanaged. It'd be great if DC would at least give a rough overview of how much of the money is going towards certain things, to ease a lot of the concerns.

Okay. Eve is certainly my favorite character. I've seen a lot of people saying that isn't going to have incest, but I Think that this is some cool development. And, like the choice with Harold's wife, I think you could unlock some incest shit if you want, cuz well, a whole Lot of people like that kind of shit. And, regardless Eve's story, I really want to have some development with Lucy. I mean, Annie mother is surely hot, a good mother and a good wife. I feel kind of bad for her. I really don't care about Annie, but Lucy is kind of cute. 5 characters that I've been obsessed was Maria. She's FUCKING HOT. Consuela and her daughter. Ronda and the gym teacher. I really Hope some development with them in a near future. Keep up the good work and PLEASE, think about the incest thing. I'm pretty sure that just isn't me that hopes for things to go that way.

No one really cares about save compatibility when a save is available for download on the official website, I personally like having new content , unexplored characters like eve and really don't care for Eric (Among my least favourites) storyline or the save compatibility . Coming to cookie jar you can directly unlock everything using the console with a single touch on your android

Same spot as 2 years ago : you still need to restart. Or go the pro way and just do what's new while keeping the cookie jar scenes already unlocked from previous builds. People would have to quit crying and start voting for the save comp update in a future poll for it to ever happen (which is really doubtful since it already lost the last 2 polls)

I have multiple hopes suggestions.. Say there are going to be 3-ways (or 4-ways) added as part of Eve's story. 1) I want the 3-ways to be truly 3-way.. Meaning all 3 characters are moving and enjoying themselves. The 4-way with Roxxy, Becca, and Missy was kind of lame. While MC was boppin' one the other two women were totally stationary. I want all of them bumpin' and grindin'. 2) To add, I want the MC to perform multiple times, with each of the partners, not just one and done. That only seems fair. 3) I hope one of the girls is Eve's sister Grace.. something about Red Hair. 4) I hope the tree house becomes a place for MC to boink one or more of his partners, that's an under-used location. 5) I hope MC gets to use the camera available for sale at the store. Maybe as a security camera at Sugar Tats. That'd be a nice way to endear himself on Grace, by recording some bad guy trying to steal from her.

DC, you are awesome. My suggestion for the Eve arc includes a mini game where mc and Eve test which of them can draw the best while being drunk. The winner gets to tattoo their art on anywhere of the loser's body. Set it so it can go both ways in that an achievement can be earned where you got inked, or you are dubbed tattoo artist. There can also be an ultimate achievement where you both get inked and the achievement is called matching tats. These ultimately should lead to a sex scene with Eve and possibly an inclusion of Grace in the mix. I will leave you to work out the details.

I hope those extra scenes will be "preggo sex" scenes, i missed that in the last version.
