The pledges are already down at least 500 dollars, BUT only a drop to maybe 1000-5000 dollars a month will make DC leave Patreon and make the game he really wants to make....Money is King. Would YOU say No to 20 000 dollars a month?

That's actually not a bad idea, however it may involve a level of sophistication in the programming that could take a long time to figure out. At the end of the day, it would seem that this game can't have any incest related content, therfore if DC gave people incest as a selectable option, that could violate these new rules. In order to allow players to choose the relationship type in a way that doesn't violate the rules, DC would need to develop a way for the players to input their own relationship status that changes the dialogue and other story elements to match what they have chosen, and that's a very deep level of programming that would not be quick and easy to implement.

So on this, if you just use Patreon as a "Keep in touch for next Update" kind of thing, and only give the Actual Game on you own Webside should work. However that would Also mean you would need someone that, for example, gives the Link of you Webside ONLY per PN/IGM/PM/IM what ever on Patreon to ppl who write them Directly. On this you have only an Status update on Patreon while the Game is on you Personal Webside and no one can touch that... Thou that sounds better when I think it trough in german.... damn cant get it completly translated how I mean it but that is the gist of it. Cheers~

And you're right about that Patreon thing, I mean many YouTubers and such get their income from Patreon but their Patreon page is mostly empty. The fans know what to do to support the creator they like so I see no problem with having an own website and the income here separated.

So here's an idea: What if you could chose what to call your mom, sister etc. Like give us the option to write in anything to call them like "Friend" or "Girlfriend" or "Rock" even. That can't be against the guidelines, can it? I mean you can chose as a player to call them anything example: Evelyn (Friend)

I have seen on many forums, similar topics to the Darkcookie team problem, there are patches transforming lines of codes (XML, or patches to change the names of characters, etc etc ...). It is therefore possible to integrate either an "original" patch so that we can continue to play with the characters, or a menu to rename our characters as we would like such mom, Aunt Diane, sister ... can finally play in this " version "without the DK team having to change its version of the game again and again? Excuse me if my question is poorly written the decision of Patreon makes me think too much :)

Just an idea, I have not seen mentioned. Why not allow the user enter what they want to call each character and also what you want each character to call you. The game already has this to some extent, but perhaps can tweak dialogue and options to where if someone wants Jenny to also be known as "sister" or "roommate" and call you her "brother" or "roommate" you can. Might be a way to work around the guidelines.

You notice when you start a new game, it ask for name for mc, sister, mom. Let it be up to the player. For sister we can name sis, the mother we just name mom.

There is a way that it is still incest without it being seen as such. make the mother, the aunt and the sister call the protagonist by his name and the protagonist also call them by the respective names (there may be nicknames). in this way incest may be insinuated or not. in this way the protagonist can be family, stet-family, exchange student, an alien or whatever he wants to be. I hope you read this. great work and continues like this. It is better not say what relationship the protagonist has. so for those who like incest themes are pleased, for those who do not like it can be something else, it is up to each person's conscience. With this there would be no problem with patreon because there is no explicit incest, only a possible implicit incest.

While the whole Mother/Sister/Aunt aspect of the game was alluring it was definitely not the only reason I like this game. This is still an extremely well made game with a lot of heart and a lot of effort put into it. I am still excited for the teacher update and every other update that comes after it. Here's what I'm seeing: The storyline is going to be edited to fit within the confines of the Patreon guidelines. There's no getting around that. DC is not going to release a "un-patreon patch" either, as that would defeat the purpose. The only real hope would be if someone not related to this project in any way created a patch that introduced these ideas. Think of it like a nude mod for Fallout 4. Bethesda can't really do anything about it, and Bethesda can't really be held responsible for the content because someone outside of their scope of control created the project. So, even if DC did make a "patch" and posted it with some other alias, he'd never be able to take any credit or even mention it (if anything, he'd ask for it to not be applied) for fear of Patreon suspending the project again. So keep at it, and I'm sure someone will figure something out. Either that, or this will move to a different platform.

And Incest is probably the most popular category for this genre. So why shut it down, if this only means that many projects will be changed and see their patreons leave the ship? Restricted content = less patreons = premature death of ongoing projects = zero money for both devs and platform. Ok that they too have probably been pressured by Paypal people, but if I were in them I will gladly close an eye in this case, if it means more money into my pockets, because c’mon it’s not like PayPal itself will come check the “purity” of these kinda games anyways...

People RELAX! DC said the change will be only temporary to comply with Patreon guidelines. As soon as another platform like Patreon appears that is safe and secure they will migrate the game there. Make no mistake, DC didn't make this decision lightly and for now this is the best option. He even said that he will continue working on the game to be as he intended it to be (inc included) even if he lost all Patrons.

The thing is that it's the emotional connection between the MC and his mother causing her to experience intense, confusing new feelings and make powerful decisions based on these feelings,that ultimately gives the story such incredible weight. As good as the art and sex scenes are, the story as it stands is the key component because it builds excitement and anticipation in a way that just isn't the same with non-related characters and is undoubtedly what gives this game its popularity.

I saw that too but I think they are referring to fiction which already exists and has established incest themes. For example, if a creator on Patreon makes fan-art of Jamie and Cersei, that's OK, but if another creator makes fan-art of, say, 18+ versions of Bart and Lisa Simpson, then that would not be allowed because they don't have an established incestual relationship. At least that's how I look at it, but the entire wording of that section is very vague and another way to look at it is that Patreon is banning the funding of real incest content but anything fictional is OK. So if it were to be read that way, this game should (theoretically) be fine because if the Trust and Safety team were to ever investigate this game they would find that the "personal narrative" of the MC is totally within the guidelines because it's fictional and the sex is consensual.

This is a quality adult game, no question, but as good as the art and animations are, it would be nothing without its core subject material. It adds so much more emotional weight to the H-scenes, especially after the last update which really expanded and refined the mother progression to be more genuine. So I agree, there needs to be a site for just adult game developers to crowd source funds that doesn't have as many constraints s Patreon now has.

People here need to be more realistic. There is no serious (let alone uncensored) competition for patreon currently. I know people are going to name this or that site, but often they are small and nearly unknown. Convincing 7,720 people to give their credit card or paypal information to some tiny porn crowdfunding site will be a hard sell. Chances are that he would lose a lot more patrons in that move than he would just following the patreon changes. Now all you people people saying he sold out, understand that him doing this full time and hiring others part time to do coding and music costs money. You can rant about rejecting patreon, but him banned from it would seriously hurt protection of this game. Just remember that while patreon can censor the content Darkcookie makes, they cannot censor any mods/ unofficial patches that are made by fans outside of Patreon. Just be patient and check out places like the F95zone forums. Mods will eventually be made and posted there. Modding is beautiful people.

Asking creators to leave Patreon is like asking YouTubers to go to another social media outlet. It won't happen unfortunately and it's highly impossible since this site is famous. I also doubt they cared if some other famous Patreon creators left this platform entirely.

For me it has nothing to do with the content. My issue is that Patreon is forcing its will upon a portion of the game that already has been made, which in turn makes the game's creator have to pause on the update we have been waiting on for months. It seems like the update will be further postponed and may not be able to be released if Patreon decides to make another change to their guidelines.

What an unnecessary and unfortunate complication. I have to be honest, the incest content was one of the main reasons I subscribed in the first place. Now, there are other aspects of the game that won me over as well, but without the incest content, I would have never subscribed in the first place. I'm willing to stick around for the next release, but I implore DC and the developers NOT to keep us in the dark about their plans to implement a patch or work-around. If I know one is coming, I'll still subscribe until it becomes available, even though I really won't be playing the game much without it. DC change the mother's and sister's look a little so that they are not too similar to the main character or the main character's appearance and then change it. That it was mother and daughter but not the main character's biological mother and sister and automatically does not interfere with her aunt who is not related to him. I just wish adult content in creative works of fiction was treated less subjectively. Everyone glorifies and accepts murder in games/movies/literature (even genocide/rape). But intimate love between siblings somehow falls off the chart, for some odd reason. There's no logic to the way fictional art is being treated and moderated (especially on Patreon). Given the size of this Patreon page, and how a lot smaller creators had already been hit with it, I have no idea how you evaded it for this long. One is that it's simply not "completed" and two that there won't be any future reworks dialogue for your family. what patreon brings to the table is collectivization, basically we get charged for the total amount we pledge instead of what we pledge to a single game. so if we give $1 to SS then they get most of it, instead of less than $0.10. another thing is with collectivization is that patreon can create and maintain the backend and it applies to everyone on patreon, thus the per person cost is virtually nothing. having your own site and donation services means that you would need to charge about $5 minimum to really make it work, unless you got enough traffic (which SS doesn't get, despite being on of the most popular projects). this fluctuates based on self imposed restrictions (like only operating in america will make it cheaper to operate, or insuring a level payment structure across borders will make it cost more). if enough creators get together they can make it work though (so long as most of the people move as well), and that is ultimately what i want to see.

I am very disappointed with Patreon, as everything was OK at the start, now they change the rules. If these games are not the same as they started out I will be withdrawing my support. Who ever is making these decisions is making a big mistake. I currently support 17 artists. The games and artwork are very well crafted and quite imaginative and it is quite depressing to pull the pin, however if I am no longer getting value for a considerable contribution then what's the bloody point. The most promising one I have seen is still in the works. They started out with a fundraiser on Indiegogo last year, and have been able to secure funding through private funding (nothing like a wealthy pervert :). The site I am talking about is Sponsorion. I have been talking with one of the developers and it is slow going, but they appear to be taking the necessary steps to create an alternative for Patreon that is not bogged down by a payment processor. They have been specifically negotiating with payment processors that are adult content friendly. Not sure if it actually come to fruition, because it is a lot of work, but if it does, it could be an amazing alternative to this place.

They are taking their time, and unless something drastic changes, I think they will eventually remove all this type of content from their platform.

Hi. First of all, yes, im using google translate. Maybe, you can set the main character as an exchange student or a son of a mother's friend who died and the family adopted since young. You can also turn school into an university or something like that, if that is causes a problems with patreon politics. Another posibility is start the game with the father alive, and after a week, he dies in suspicious circumstances. ( this forces to do a new start but it could work) and the bad guys starts to put under pressure all of the members of the house, including the main character. this thing work well with the "adopted child" option, i think. Ok, so what if SOME INDIVIDUAL anonymous Patreon "user" were to post a decensoring patch on, say, a free wordpress blog, and post a link to that blog in the comments, possibly as the very first comment right after a post was made, then Patreon would have no ability to stop that anonymous user from sharing such content. Obviously it would be a patch that required someone to have the official game downloaded. There have been other patreon games where *cough* someone posted such things to undo incest based censorship. Considering the pattern of Patreon's behavior, it is more than likely a patch to remove mentions of incest from the game. That isn't to say they are removing the actual content, just that everyone will be "adopted" or "step-siblings/children" now rather than full blooded family.

Here is my idea, for what it is worth. Since all of the characters are 18, turn the High school into a collage. The lead character is renting a room....so all of the scenes can stay. He can still continue to look for the moms husband....and she can still feel guilty because the lead character is young enough to BE her son. I think that would get you out of hot water with patreon. I also HOPE that there would be a patch in the works, to bring back the original content. If people dont like it.....dont play the game, and dont subscribe.
