My dude (I mean that as a friend), don't make up for anything! Take all the time you need for closure, and while he is still alive, there is zoom! In my experience, the time when death was most painful is when it was unexpected. You live with a whole slew of regrets and what ifs. This is not to say that saying goodbye is ever easy, but if you put yourself in your grandfather's shoes, he would most likely only want for his family to be ok when he leaves this world. He is not gone forever, but is crossing over to a pain free life. My heart is with you and your family, as you travel on this devastating road! Don't ever feel like because he was old, that you should be alright. If only the heart could see it this way. The more time you have spent with him, and the talks you cherished, the firmer your bond was. It's not so much him passing, but how much you will miss these precious moments! I'm sure you understand when I say that if you had to give yourself for someone else, you'd do it in a heartbeat! That is how your grandfather also believes! Just look up in the sky, and know that he is still with you, and when you least expect it, you may just get a sign! Love always, Love Montes!

We sang songs and told our favorite family stories in their presence. We held their hand and took pictures of our hands in theirs. Poignant and precious.
