Life Update! Jan21 Ver.: "Post 2020 Blues"

Hey there, Auth here.

Welcome to the life update for January 2021! So... happy new year! I hope you've had a good start to 2021, no matter where you are in the world. Given... well, everything, I hope that you are all taking time to take care of yourself. I know it can be difficult, but just getting that daily walk, that 15 minute call with a friend or family member can really make the difference!

This month was a little slow compared to the usual for the channel. Slight reason for this is because of visiting family; I have less time alone in the house to record. Hence I've released 6 videos, of which 1 was an NSFW preview, with another 2 planned for release before the end of January. The channel grew really quickly as well this month, as we started with 6k subscribers on New Years and as of writing this we just hit 9k! Would be absolutely mindblowing if we hit 10k before February but I am so grateful nonetheless. Another milestone, Atlas' NSFW preview hit 100k views on YouTube! I uh, have a feeling I may have left too much 18+ content in that one lol. Regardless, thank you so much for being here and continuing to support me!

In terms of my personal life, there isn't really much happening! I had an interview for medschool on Thursday (21st) which I think was okay. I'll know if I got in by the 4th or 5th of Feb, and I will likely plaster it on my Twitter so you'll know by then if I've gotten in or not lol. I did end up using most of January to prepare for that though, so I didn't end up doing much. Last update I had mentioned a TAFE course - I ended up deferring it because I was so busy preparing for my interview that I wasn't able to manage the workload, since it was 9am-4pm Monday to Friday. I also start uni catch-up classes tomorrow, which I'm slightly dreading bc they're going to be quite busy as well. I can only hope that I get into med so I can transfer out of my current course and start afresh in my dream course.

I should mention though, I have spent a fair amount of time with my secondary school and uni friends! We've only been catching up about once a week or so, my different friend groups, but it's nice to see them. I can still tell there's this slight ... unfamiliarity of being around others. My city had the hardest and longest lockdown in the country due to a second wave, so it's taken some time for people to get out of their shells - myself included. I definitely feel the reduced social battery capacity, I get tired during outings with friends or when visiting a friend's house very quickly, even quicker than normal! Because yes I'm introverted, haha.

Although there's no lockdown in Australia anymore, I've noticed that places that used to be lively and bustling on any day of the week are much quieter. People aren't out and about most likely because they can't afford it. At the moment the job seeker to job availability ratio in Australia is 16 to 1, meaning there are 16 people vying for each position that's available. I am so incredibly grateful that I'm able to make YouTube a part time job now, and I recognise how privileged I am to be in a position where I can make others contented or relaxed and be remunerated for it. 2020 has definitely had its lasting impacts that we'll continue to see for a very long time, but I'm grateful for the things I've obtained from it.

The title of this Life Update is "post 2020 blues" - although lockdown ended for me in mid-November, I recognise that a lot of the rest of the world is still grappling with COVID-19 among other turmoil of all sorts of varieties. From this corner of the world, I wish you all the safest and best possible year ahead of you. If taking care of yourself means putting your needs above those of people around you, then so be it - let 2021 be a year where you can focus on yourself!

See you around!
