I tend to make backdrops for my comics in a similar way that a stage production would for a theater. I made this one for the latest 'Space Adventure' page but I may be able to reuse it for the main comic.
Some people are using AI for background art these days but this seems wrong to me as it's stealing the work of other artists (albeit in an indirect way). Gotta respect those amazing landscape artists and try to learn from them rather than stealing their work.
Not that I'm dead set against AI art. I think it's fine to use just for fun or in a small project that never would have had an art budget to begin with(eg-I have a friend that DMs as a side hustle. I have no problem with him using AI assets for his small operation) , but artists should not be using whole cloth assets for their projects. At least not if they mean to claim full credit for their creations.
Use AI for fun, but keep creating. Keep striving. Keep making stuff! Keep the meaning of human endeavor relevant no matter what computers may be doing. That is all :)
