August returned from the Oblation Wars under a compassionate discharge after having his soul almost entirely flayed from his body after his formation was mistakenly struck by a friendly beatus-bomb. The hospitallers of Our Lord of Troikan Charity furnished him with an orgone accumulator – an adequate, though temperamental, soul prosthesis – enabling him a semblance of normal life.
When returning to the city, he found the world had changed without him. The streets were full, the skies were clear, the capitulary towers were gone, no one remembered the theurges or the fighting in the streets. Time had moved in cruel and mysterious ways, and he decided so too would he. Hardened by war, not prone to sentimentality, he uses his talents for violence as a judiciary champion and debt collector retained in the service of the Spider Bank.
Guilty August is a straightforward licenced operator. He will seek out his ‘clients’, tracking them through the city and beyond via information networks and base intimidation, and do what he has been contracted to do. He will always make himself known when he closes in, sending a formal final letter of request of funds unpaid plus expenses. If this is ignored, he will find and inflict harm upon things his client holds dear. If this is also ignored, he will move in to execute the client through single combat at an inopportune time.
He has become a favoured agent of the Spider Bank due to his complete lack of sympathy, however they don’t know that it is fake. August discovered that switching off his orgone accumulator numbed his soul into almost complete silence, making him immune to any act of conscience. It can’t last, however, and he must turn it on after a while or risk dying like his friends under the light of the beutus-bomb, at which point it all rushes in. The cracks are showing, and the Spider Bank will have to deal with him one day soon.
August keeps a simple room above the Martyry of St Maurice, to whom he donates all of his money.
At will he can turn his soul off and be immune to anything which affects his soul, thoughts, or emotions. However, if he dies while it is turned off he cannot be resurrected by any means.
