Jordan,
You are right on. I actually wrote a novel about this particular character's exploits, and that's precisely what she is. She is the daughter of a farming family, lost her mother as a teenager - her father blamed her and the abuse began until her late teens. She escaped her home village with her sister due to a attack from raiders, and found herself at the doorstep of a very wealthy city with no interest in taking her in. But fought she did - joining their army and changing everything... right before war broke out for the first time in centuries.
Some day, I intend to convert it to a graphic novel. Thanks for the comment. I'll think about Athenril.

Correct me if I am wrong on this. Ariadne strikes me as having a personality similar to Avaline of Dragon Age. A determined, willful, and loyal guardian who protects those she loves, perhaps to a fault. By the way, should Athenril the smuggler ever make into your repertoire, AD, I would probably die.
