Is This It - The Strokes

The Tab-On Screen version is now on YouTube exclusively for Patreon supporters. I'm doing the entire album so plenty more coming... and all using the fantastic Jekyll & Hyde pedal I got recently.

Patreon supporters can also access the downloadable tabs (GuitarPro and pdf) plus the presets (Amplitube and screenshots) here on sparkyguitar.com and in the attached zip file.

And click here for the full index of songs I've covered - and to see what I’m working on!

Hey Gareth. Good question. So I do all of the recording in LogicPro X and I use the Line6 PodFarm tuner as a plug in. I've always liked how accurate it is and easy to use. Importantly it is really easy to alter the calibration. Standard is 440Hz... but you can quickly adjust that up or down to help match the song. So I simply play an open string that matches a main note from the the song (so the song might be in G so I'll play an open G). I listen to the song and adjust my guitar by ear until it sounds right. I don't look at the tuner while I do it. But when I've tuned that note I look at where it is on the tuner. Am I sharp or flat? I then adjust the calibration so that G on the tuner matches "my" G. That means adjusting the calibration up or down a few Hz. That's really easy on a computer... but you can do it on any tuner with a calibration option (most have the option though the range might not be as high as some songs need). If it is a song I've covered then you'll see in the description below the video what to change your tuner to. That makes it really easy. So for Animal Nitrate... tune the whole guitar down 1 fret and then set your tuner to 450Hz and tune to that. Hope that helps!

Thanks for all the tabs. I'm wondering how you figure out the tuning offsets for any songs that aren't really in standard. I have problems with Suede songs the most, as I love Suede but just can't get the tuning offsets right. Do you have any tips of how I can get my guitar exactly in tune with the recordings? I use Transcribe to adjust the tuning of the track.

Gareth
