Would you like some news? - Monthly Public Recap #1

Wow, what’s that sudden update? And a public one too?


Yes! And I’ll try to make one of those every month if possible!



Why is that ?


I don’t have a lot of time to give fresh news on social media, Tapas, or interact on Discord anymore since September and Shrimpy’s birth, so I figured out that maybe I should write some sort of monthly reports and make it free access for everyone to see! That way everything will be said in just one place, everything will be easier, simpler, no more time wasted on all my different platforms, and it’s better for my attention span!

Reminds me to my good old «LiveJournal » years, haha! 



Don’t worry tho! My Twitter, Discord and Tapas will still be used, but I won’t need to update everything at the same time every time.


Those reports will obviously be about my work on Rainette, the latest news in my professional life, my Patreon, but also about my personal life too :) (so you’ll know why some months are slower than others in therms of productivity), and I hope I’ll be able to provide a few pics for them too.



What did I manage to do this month?

According to my journal, I managed to be done with the coloring of 6 pages!! Only 2 more to go and Chapter 2 is done. It’s obviously slow, and I planed to be done with this chapter by the end on 2021, but one of the lessons I learnt those last months is that with a baby at home and no money to send them into Childcare or even just get a Nanny at least for a couple days a week (and tbh with Covid, I’m not sure I’d like to give my child), I can’t set myself any deadlines anymore.



I was very frustrated at first, but I’m slowly learning to be at peace about that. Work has been a real addiction for me and for a long time, and I even burnt out in 2018 because of that.

So, after learning to stop working every day at 7PM, then later to stop working during weekends, I’m now learning to accept that my professional life will be a bit slower for a few years (until Shrimpy goes to school at least).



HEY! BUT I’M FINE!! I’m just very embarrassed because I can’t give more to my Patrons and my audience for now. Guess I’ll have to learn to deal with that too, and stop feeling guilty about it. Yeah haha, sounds ea-sy. (NOPE).

Exemple of Class Prep.



I’m still a teacher 1 day per week too, and have class prep to do at the same time I’m working on Rainette. I’m thinking more and more about making a book out of all my class prep, but that’ll have to wait 1 or 2 more years, when I’ll have more time again :)


In January, I posted mostly previews of Rainette pages on Patreon, and I’m late for the monthly phone screen D: but I’m working on it.

What’s up, Shrimp?



Shrimpy’s now 4 months old and a half. They grow very well (65cm and almost 7kg)! On January, they started to make a lot of funny noises I like to compare to pigeon cooings, and they are easier to manage now too. But babies can make 1 step forward and go 4 steps back 1 week later, so I guess that this is a fragile state and that I shouldn’t believe I’m out of the woods yet. They also started to eat CAROTS, and I’m super efficient at putting them to sleep twice a day for their naps :)

Only thing is that they don’t sleep full nights anymore like they used too when they where 2 months old, but we’re making progress in that too, and I slept more that 5h in a row last night!



I planed to do the #hourlycomicday2022 chalenge this year (it's today), from Shrimpy’s point of view, buuuut, nope. I definitely don’t have time for that. Frustration again.





Do I have plans for February?

Definitely be done with Chapter 2 pages and start working on Rainette merch, catch up with my late January phone screen, do the February one as well, and be done with a commission I took in November.
 (I'm pretty sure I'm forgeting something here è_e)

I’d like to read more too, just to relax (I started a book last week, and only managed to read 2 chapters and a half).
