As I'm a bit of a deadbeat, unfortunately this most recent post doesn't celebrate a new milestone, but instead is about a relatively important change happening here on Patreon.
Like many companies in this exciting digital world, the regulators have finally caught up with the folks at Patreon and are forcing them to adhere to those pesky ol' laws. Specifically, as of July 1, 2020, Patreon is obligated to collect sales tax from transactions made in the United States. For good measure, the...

Well, technically this goal was reached on August 1st, when the month's pledges were processed. The third goal, as stated on the sidebar, is to build a secondary PC specifically to record my current PC. Here's a stylish little diagram I stole from Twitch to illustrate how it works.
The 'Streaming PC' isn't doing anything but record the video output from the 'Gaming PC', so it can devote all of its system resources to encode it at higher quality; the 'Gaming PC' doesn't have any extra strain wh...

With the arrival of a functional HDMI splitter, it's been 2 weeks now since I've started recording PS1 footage of Vagrant Story and I'm pretty confident this setup is going to work for the foreseeable future. This considerably expands the range of games I'm able to play on my channel, so keep that in mind when requesting LPs; most* console games are up for grabs now. Thanks again to everybody for helping to reach the capture card goal!
*Not Superman 64 or anything dumb like that, th...

As I mentioned in my last post, the goal for the capture card has been reached, and I have in fact purchased an Elgato HD60 Pro for use with my content.
My last post also alluded to the fact that I was going to start using it to record PS1 games, but after initially setting it up I noticed that I couldn't actually record my PS3 (which I was going to use to run PS1 games).
Now, this isn't some massive problem that has derailed all my videos or anything, but I'll explain what's happening; ...

The $20 goal was reached on May 31, which means I'll be acquiring an internal capture card.
As an aside, partly due to my own laziness in not promoting it, the forums have been growing very slowly so I don't think spending the money from my first goal on removing the ads is a good investment right now.
I have only a little experience with external capture cards (Final Fantasy Tactics was recorded using one of the Haupaugge models), but the quality was a little...

As mentioned in the reward tier, as a Patron you're name is listed the intro video for any LP made after your pledge.
However as your Patron username may be your actual name, or otherwise not what you'd like to be known as, I'm asking all Patrons to get in touch with me and let me know the name you'd like to be credited as in my videos. And if you feel like going by a different name in the future, please just let me know it and I'll use that in the series' going forward.

I got the notification last night that pledges reached $5/mo, which marks my first goal successfully completed. Originally this goal was a much higher pledge threshold ($20/mo), but Raab convinced me I probably shouldn't go all-in on a forum that might not actually be used all that much. So I've created a proboards forum, which is free, and charges $6/mo to remove ads. We're currently in a trial period where the forum is ad-free for the next 2 weeks.
I also dwelled briefly on purchasing a doma...
