Uhhhhhh whoops! Several errors!
First: The bit about the relays in the mixer? Completely false, and I don't know what i was thinking. Really old mixers DID use relays for switching, but by the 2000s, everything had framesynced inputs, and cut-through switching was impossible (and pointless.)
I knew this, and something about the statement was bugging me, but I couldn't figure out what - until Mike (the previous owner of this mixer) messaged me to explain that those are ACTUALLY the tally light relays! Duh! The board above it is even labeled TALLY.
All those do is switch the lights on cameras on and off to indicate which one's live. I hadn't considered that they'd use relays for that; I just figured it would be solid state by this point, but no, Mike's definitely right. So I had to edit that part out and add a voiceover to explain.
But perhaps more importantly... about 2/3 of the B-angle footage was a quarter-second out of sync. Thanks to Morgan for pointing this out or I would never have noticed. It turns out that the internal clocks in my cameras are... not as accurate as I had hoped, and I didn't jam sync often enough, so the timecode got out of sync, and - silly me - I didn't double-check against the clapper like I should have.
So, this version should have all that resolved. If you made comments on the older one, it'd be cool if you could repost them on the new one. And hopefully this is the last revision!
